2001 Chevrolet Tracker - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
2001 Chevy tracker 2.0 run ideal but when start down the road melts 1coil
It sounds like your 2001 Chevy Tracker with a 2.0 liter engine may be experiencing a problem with the ignition system. If one of the coils is overheating and melting, it is likely that there is a fault with that particular coil or with the circuit that supplies power to it.
Some potential causes for this issue include:
- A faulty ignition coil
- A short circuit in the wiring to the ignition coil
- A malfunctioning ignition control module
- An issue with the spark plugs or ignition wires
I recommend having a mechanic diagnose the issue in order to determine the root cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repairs. It is important to address any issues with your vehicle as soon as possible to avoid further damage and to ensure your safety while driving.
I have a 2002 Chevy
Maybe its time for new spark plug,,, this is an inexpensive refresh and something the mechanic will do if he starts troubleshooting the engine miss. While you are installing the new spark plugs, give your spark plug wires a CLOSE VISUAL inspection for burns, cracks, or other defects that would cause a misfire..Once you have replaced the spark plugs..checked the wires, ..and if the miss is still there, its time for a qualified professional to look at it.. they will hook it to a diagnostic machine and tell you what happening... good luck..... and no, it hasn't "slipped timing"..
2001 tracker will knock senser make car overheat
Hi Mr. Bob Kendall. No , a knock sensor will not cause a car to over heat . A stuck closed thermostat , cooling fans not working , clogged cooling system , could be the gauge is reading wrong . A bad knock sensor would cause the check engine light to come on . Also would probably set a DTC - diagnostic trouble code .
I just have to mention Mr Kendall , back in 1984 i got my start as a Automotive .technician at Bob kendall chevrolet in Vancouver , Washington . lol that's funny .
How to change the power steering/ac belt
It should have a 1/2 inch hole on the tensioner to put in a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Relieve the tension and remove the belt. Be careful, its heavy spring loaded. Make sure you know your belt routing for installing the new one. There should be a sticker with a belt routing diagram by the top of the radiator. This is for a serpentine belt. If for some reason you have a V-belt, you have to loosen brackets. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

MY 2001 TRACKER HAS A VERY LOUD CLATTER IN THE
Be sure to check the water pump. With the car running you can take a very long socket extension and place one end on different parts of the valve cover, block, alternator, a/c compressor, etc. and the other end hold to your ear. You may be able to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. This truly is a great way to narrow own a noise like this but....BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO INTERFERE WITH ANY MOVING PARS OR HOT ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. THINK SAFELY AND IF YOU DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE, TAKE IT TO A PROFESSIONAL. SAFETY FIRST.
