My 96 vette ran hot. the temp would rise while

I have a feeling its your water pump not pumping coolant. Water pump is run by the crankshaft. So in essence, the water pump pumps coolant faster while the engine or crankshaft is running which is why the temp would go up while still. It may not be cranking now maybe because the water pump pulley may be bad not allowing the belt to move. So have your cooling system checked.

Cold Air Not Blowing Through Vents

Your last guess is probably the right one. The deflectors/directors are vacuum controlled and you may have vacuum line either broken or disconnected; these aren't fun to find. I would start under the hood and make sure the vacuum reservoir is intact (have seen them cracked) and then start tracing hoses from there.

WERE IS THE FUEL FILTER

A fuel filter is a filter in the fuel line that screens out dirt and rust particles from the fuel. They are normally made into cartridges containing a filter paper. They are found in most internal combustion engines.
Fuel filters serve a vital function in today's modern, tight-tolerance engine fuel systems. Unfiltered fuel may contain several kinds of contamination, for example paint chips and dirt that has been knocked into the tank while filling, or rust caused by moisture in a steel tank. If these substances are not removed before the fuel enters the system, they will cause rapid wear and failure of the fuel pump and injectors, due to the abrasive action of the particles on the high-precision components used in modern injection systems. Fuel filters also improve performance, as the fewer contaminants present in the fuel, the more efficiently it can be burnt.
Fuel filters need to be maintained at regular intervals. This is usually a case of simply disconnecting the filter from the fuel line and replacing it with a new one, although some specially designed filters can be cleaned and reused many times. If a filter is not replaced regularly it may become clogged with contaminants and cause a restriction in the fuel flow, causing an appreciable drop in engine performance as the engine struggles to draw enough fuel to continue running normally.
Some filters, especially found on diesel engines, are of a bowl-like design which collect water in the bottom (as water is more dense than diesel). The water can then be drained off by opening a valve in the bottom of the bowl and letting it run out, until the bowl contains only diesel. Many Fuel Filters contain a water sensor to signal to the ECU or directly to the driver (lamp on dashboard) if the water reach the warning level. It is especially undesirable for water to be drawn into a diesel engine fuel system, as the system relies on the diesel for lubrication of the moving parts, and if water gets into a moving part which requires constant lubrication (for example an injector valve), it will quickly cause overheating and unnecessary wear. This type of filter may also include a sensor, which will alert the operator when the filter needs to be drained. In the diesel fuel filter there is (usually) a fuel heater to avoid the paraffin (in case of lower temperature) inside the filtrating element which can stop the fuel flow to the engine.

Battery keeps draining

Check to see if it's the light under the hood that stay's on when you close the hood. remove the light bulb and see if it still drains. The other places would be the light over the visor and light in the glove box. Other things would be a bad relay like the A/C relay to the compressor being stuck in the on position and A/C clutch engaged all the time. Start with the light's it may take a few days but better then going to the dealer and paying them to do the same thing for a few days and charging you for the service. Keep me posted, be glad to help out.

Rear axle noise on accel and decel

it is gear noise. The style of this car you will hear a little noise because of how the rear end sits close to the driver and it is open behind you kinda makes an echo effect. probably getting play in the carrier side bearings allowing the gear to "walk" a little causing the pitch to change. this is usually the first cause of failure. You can just replace the bearings and set back up but might still get some noise if it has created a new wear pattern on gear set. This noise will not affect performance or how long it lasts.

Power antenna

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Note the way the motor is oriented as installation is the exact order of removal. The motor is held in place on its mounting bracket by two screws. Use either a socket wrench with an extension or a screwdriver with a ratchet to remove the bolts. Note that one of the bolts has a ground/power wire for the antenna.

2. With these two bolts loosened, you will be able to pull the antenna down toward you enough to loosen the antenna gain and positive power wires located at the top of the unit. With all these wires removed, the entire assembly can be pulled down for access while leaving the wire that lead inside the motor housing intact.
3. With the unit now in your hand, roll up the black rubber sleeve that protects the unit from moisture, dirt, etc. There are approximately four Phillips head screws that hold the cover on the motor housing. Remove these screws. Also, remove the center nut that holds the antenna flywheel in place. With the cover off, you will see the flywheel and the main gear that raises and lowers the nylon antenna ribbon. You will also more than likely find bits or long sections of your OLD ribbon. Remove them.
4. Now is the time to lubricate the main gear and flywheel with either Vaseline or white lithium grease to ensure years of trouble-free operation with your new ribbon.
5. Replace the flywheel (noting its direction) and screw the cover back into place. Re-install the antenna, connect all the wiring and hook your battery back up. Turn on the ignition and radio and listen to see if the motor runs. If it does, you are ready to install your new mast.
Just follow the directions that came with it and you should be in great shape.
