I have a 1998 olds 88 And. The blower motor motor
I think under the hood in a fuse box.I would check the blower motor resistors connection afterwards.Turn ignition and fan switches on then wiggle the pigtail going to the resistor. Its located in the heat duct on the passenger side near the floor. These resistors are known for getting hot and melting the pigtail causing it to loose connection.
Trans axle humming noise
If you go really easy on the gas you should hear & feelall 4 or 5 gears shift, whichever you haveYou should also feel converter clutch lock-up when in the top gear, which you call overdrive. That will occur around 40 mph if you stay steady on the gasYou can lightly hold the brake down & the (TCC) Torque Convertershould unlock & the engine RPM go upI suspect you have no lockup thus wrong dash speed indicatedThat will eventually over heat the transYou get lock-up in other gears under certain load conditionsYou could have a bad solenoid in transaxle & any other sensorsthat play a role in shift strategy
Starter replacement
I passed this question up yesterday because people don't generally rebuild starters anymore. They exchange their starter for a rebuilt one at a parts store. I suppose you can still buy the brushes and the bushings to do it, but I haven't in 25+ years.
1998 olds 88 headlights stay on
Could be a problem with the automatic system, maybe a relay, or the headlight switch. You may need a book to trace the circuits.
Stalled & won't start
Hi there:You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing... Spark / Fuel / CompressionAll
three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There
are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both
are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel
pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the
reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets
unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With
the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to
the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in
the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into
the cylinder like it should.Compression tester,
spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at
your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in
diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these
tests.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your
feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if
you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.
