+after running out of fuel car won't fire.
When you run out of gas in your car, there are a number of parts of the
vehicle that can be damaged. For example, running a car without gas can
damage the fuel pump, fuel filter, or push dirt through out the fuel
line of the vehicle. What you need to do is remove the air from the injection lines, the reason is when air is in the lines the fuel cannot form enough pressure to open the injectors due to the air compressing instead of being a solid fuel. So first step is to fill the fuel filter.Next, follow the fuel line from the filter and see if it goes to a small primer pump optional on most machines, if not the go to the injector lines at the injector. Loosen all the lines and apply full throttle making sure the stop is push in SO the machine will run. Crank the motor for 15-20 seconds or until you see fuel pulsating out the loosened lines. To help protect yourself against risk of running out of gas, consider
filling up your tank anytime your fuel indicator falls below 1/4 a tank.

When you say "all fuses good" Does that mean the fuse panel on the passenger side end of dash...
and both power distribution boxes under the hood? They are attached to the fenders and you will have to remove the metal straps running over the covers to open them. Check power wire going to each box for tightness and 12 volts. If all the fuse's, relay's, and circuit breakers are good, you may have an issue with the "Body Control Module". You will find it under passenger side dash, behind the glove box. Might even be an issue with the ignition switch.
Where is the mass air
- Your MAF sensor is in the engine bay. That plastic tube that goes from your air cleaner box to the intake, your MAF is mounted on that tube. Remove the connector and the two mounting bolts and it pulls out.

I'm assuming that the entire suspension and the shafts have been checked. If that's the case then it's a sign that the bearings in the hub of that wheel are worn out and beginning to fail. Yes, that is a dangerous condition, they must be replaced.

Your 94 engine has separate coolant temp sensor and gauge sender. The 96 engine incorporates both in the engine coolant temp sensor. The coolant temp sensor is near the t-stat, below the throttle body. Check to see how many wires are in this plug. If it only has two, you may be able to use the plug from the 96 motor and wire it into the wire where the original sensor was. You should be able to just color match. Not sure if you can get away with this but the 96 plug should have a third wire, and it's woth a try.

Your'e probably poking at the fuel rail schrader valve, kind of looks like the bicycle tire valve? The smoke from the vents could be the ac running while it was hot and humid outside. All normal. Now, the low idle may be due to a clogged air filter(did your friend drive around dirt roads). Replace that first and see how it runs, if still the same replace the fuel filter next, may be partially clogged, but I'm leaning more towards a plugged air filter.
