Sonoma problems
Make sure the engine grounds are good, very important on these trucks. Also check the wires and connection leading to the 2-pin coolant temperature sensor. If there is no damage or corrosion there, then replace the sensor. They are cheap, and quite often fail.

Will crank but wont start
When an engine overheats, they should be shut off immediatly when any warning lights come on, or the temp. gauge reads extremly high. At this point, under extreme heat, your valves will heat up, get soft and bend. Your pistons will melt holes through them and your rings will break. Depending on how long the engine was ran in an overheated condition, your might have an engine with NO OR LOW COMPRESSION.
Gas gauge not working but it has power
you may have crossed the wires. on the read wire some were but if your pump is in the tank then you have put the wires in the way of the gauge sensor easy thing to do when putting the top back on. just take the top back off and move the wires to the oher side wile holding the top and putting it back on.
Fuel pump sensor draining battery?
The things that you need to do are:
1. Drop the gas tank, this is not easy and it is dangerous. Make sure that it is empty and that there are no sources of ignition around. You need to unhook lines that connect to it that are both fuel and electric. The big lines to the filler neck are hard to unhook and when you are done you should seal them with permatex.
2. The battery draining issue requires that you use an amp meter on the battery in series with the cable. Then you start pulling fuses to see what makes the reading drop. Make sure that you have a meter that will read amperage and not milliamps or you will blow out the meter.
