2001 sonoma won't start, turns over. Got spark .
Spray some carb.cleaner or brake cleaner into the throttle body and if it starts and runs for a few seconds then it is a fuel problem.G.M.vehicles do not have fuel shut off switches. You can check the gray wire at the fuel pump connector and see if you have power with a test light. When you turn the key to the on position the test light should light for 2 seconds then go off.If there is any way you can check fuel pressure that would be the best way to check the fuel pump. The specs are 60-66 psi.Hope this helps and let me know what you come up with or if you need more help.Good luck.
The Brake lights are are on even while the truck
At the top of the brake pedal is a switch that may have moved and it has an adjustment to it that is causing the switch to stay open. The switch is adjustable.By turning it in clockwise it should reset. Otherwise you will need a new brake light switch.

I would not drive that truck 1 more foot until that brake situation is rectified! No the 4 wheel drive cannnot make the brakes go out, they are 2 seperate systems entirely and have aero to do with the other as far as operation. This is a very dangerous condition and needs to be fixed BEFORE you ever drive it again! Brakes go out , dual reservoir master cylinders have a less likelihood of total failure than the old single reservoir types, so you should of had 2 wheels diagonally enen if a brake system failure has occured! better fix this one and before you drive it anywhere!! You could die and or kill someone!
My 2001 gmc sonama heater
This no heat problem is one off two things, you may be low on coolant and its not flowing into heatercore or the actuator motor that controls the blend door is bad, the blend door is a door in the heater boxs that opens or closes to give you hot air or cold.
2001 sonoma 4wd. Seems to
Hello run721.
Two items come to mind with the symptoms described.
First is a restricted fuel filter. When going up a hill more fuel is required and if the filter is partially plugged it won't allow enough fuel to keep your engine running.
Secondly is a plugged exhaust system, usually the catalytic converter.
The converter consists of a porcelain honeycomb with very small passages. Over a period of time in an engine that is burning oil or the fuel/ignition system(in need of a tune up) is allowing too much unburned fuel into the exhaust it will plug up the converter.
The more throttle applied allows more air in, but it can't get out, so you lose power.
Both of these problems will create a misfire which will make your check engine light flash.
I hope it is just the fuel filter.
Thank you for using FixYa.

01 sonoma 4x4 sounds like a prop plane at low
possible wheel bearing. Front I ASSUME?? jack up truck so both wheels are off the ground, (use jack stands) now spin wheel while holding the coil spring with your hand, and compare the right with the left side. If you feel the vibration through the spring, the bearing is bad. If it does not have springs, then hold the spindle.
My light under the hood
bang on the retraction unit that hold the light ... sometimes they get sticky and dont enguage contact when the hood is opened.

Hello, the constant velocity joint shaft was used to remove vibration in this wheelbase truck. sometimes it worked well, sometimes it made matters worse. You can replace this shaft with a 1 piece, 2 joint shaft, and not have any safety issues, as long as the correct length shaft is used. I have seen some vibration issues doing this, but I have also seen this work without an issue. You can buy constant velocity joints still, in case you want to have yours rebuilt. Good luck...Coop
I am losing heat even though the heat gauge is
You probably have a plugged heater core or radiator.Very common for these models with the dex-cool anti freeze.Check the hoses going to the heater core. They should be hot to the touch. Not warm but hot when the vehicle is at normal operating temperature. When it is cooled down and there is no pressure on the radiator cap, check the radiator and make sure the system is full.If the system is low you will not get heat.If this is the problem then check for leaks. If this has a 4.3 look for and intake gasket leaking.Hope this helps.Good luck.Let me know what you found.

Check for vacumn leaks ! Idle air compensator? clean throttle valve oppenings and air port opening,do you have check engine lite on,check EGR valve? Dirty fuel injectors ,bad pressure regulator?Check fuel pressure at fuel rail,at idle !
