Power Mirror System
Power Mirror System Components
The power mirror system consists of the following components:
• Driver Door Switch (DDS)--An electronic control module with integrated switches and requires programming when replaced
• Passenger Door Switch (PDS)--An electronic control module with integrated switches, requires programming when replaced
• Power Mirror Direction Switch--Integrated into DDS and is a 4 position momentary switch that provides a signal input to the DDS for up, down, left/extend and right/retract with a mirror switch activation
• Mirror Select Switch--Integrated into DDS and is a 3 position switch that allows the operator to select the left or right mirror and also a neutral/fold position
• Left Outside Power Mirror--Contains both the vertical and horizontal mirror motors
• Right Outside Power Mirror--Contains both the vertical and horizontal mirror motors
• Body Control Module--An electronic control module that requires programming when replaced, serves as the power mode master and is the main message handler
• Memory Switch, if equipped with memory mirrors--Supplied power by the DDS and provides a voltage signal to the DDS upon a switch activation
• Horizontal and Vertical Position Sensors, if equipped with memory mirrors--Supplied a 5-volt and low reference by the DDS/PDS and provide a variable voltage signal to the DDS/PDS that is proportional to mirror position
• Powertrain Control Module (PCM), if equipped with memory mirrors--An electronic control module that requires programming when replaced and provides the message indicating transmission gear selection
• Driver Information Center (DIC), if equipped with memory mirrors--Part of the instrument cluster which is a an electronic control module that requires programming when replaced and is used to personalize the memory recall functions
• Fold Motor, in each of the outside mirrors, if equipped with power fold mirrors--Provides extend and retract movements of the mirror and is serviced as a complete mirror assembly
Each of the outside power mirrors contains 2 reversible motors to provide horizontal and vertical movement of the mirror glass. The vertical motor operates the up and down directions and the horizontal motor operates the left and right directions. If equipped with power folding mirrors, each outside power mirror will contain a reversible fold motor to operate the extend and retract functions. Each of the mirror motors are circuit breaker protected.
Do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are ?
DTC B1023
Circuit/System Description
The driver door switch (DDS) and front passenger door switch (PDS) each contain switches that control power door lock and window functions. The DDS also contains the control switch for the power outside rear view mirrors. These switches are integrated within the door control modules and are not serviceable as separate components. The DDS and PDS monitor these switch inputs for internal faults and set B1023 00 if any are detected.
You could have any number of problems an without testing , hooking up a scanner that can check DTC'S in the door module ,electrical circuit testing etc... we'd only be guessing . Your best bet mite be to take it to a qualified repair shop.
Cruise control on 2008 Chevy Suburban stopped working. Changed the brake lamp switch (twice). Any suggestions? Where is the fuse located?
This is a computer controlled system (BCM) supply's power to switch .Voltage is supplied to the cruise control switch via the steering wheel control switch reference voltage circuit supplied by the BCM.
The following are the main components of the Cruise Control System:
• The accelerator pedal
• The stop lamp switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The cruise control switches
• The engine control module (ECM)
• The throttle actuator control (TAC) motor
• The vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
Taking your vehicle to a quailfied repair shop would be your best option . Using a factory scan tool to view input data from switches and sensors is the only way to diagnose the cruise control on your vehicle . Just replacing parts does not cut it .
The body control module (BCM) monitors the signal circuit of the cruise control switches. The BCM relays the cruise control switch status to the engine control module (ECM) via the GMLAN serial data circuit. The ECM uses the status of the cruise control switch to determine when to capture and maintain the vehicle speed. The ECM monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit in order to determine the desired vehicle speed. The ECM uses the throttle actuator control (TAC) motor in order to maintain the vehicle speed. For further information on the TAC System, refer to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description .
This is not a fuse problem !!!!!!!!!
You probably don't know what GMLAN serial data is ,do you ? It's GM 's version of C.A.N.
How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN
Traction Control & Stabilitrak Lights Came On, Drove Badly, BUT No Codes
I'm a bit more experienced with older car models but when these things happen I immediately suspect the sensors/sensor-wiring within the axle because they are most receptable to damage. Did it happen on a wet trip? Maybe insulation got damaged? A bit weird that a Chevy dealer wouldn't spot that tough...
Power seat fuse
A lot of fuses are located under hood in engine compartment on drivers side of fender.
2008 suburban Stuck Lift Gate Lock
I have a 2008 Suburban with the power liftgate disabled. I have had the power latch stop working, and the BCM report that the rear access open when it is closed (both gate and glass). Somehow the liftgate module thinks the gate is open, so I cannot open the gate at all, and the latch and rear wiper will not work. To reset the control module I pulled the liftgate fuse (#20) in the instrument panel fuse box, turned the car on, off, reinstalled fuse, turned car on, unlocked doors using drivers side switch, and the power latch will function again - at least for a while.
Intermittent electrical shut down
When you turn the key on, do the warning lights come on the dash ?Can you turn the headlights on ?These answers will help narrow down the problem to the main circuits or just the key switch.
Not passing emissions
The NOx (Oxide of Nitrogen) level standard in the state of New Jersey is 1372. Anything higher than this number will fail emissions.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------vas 5054a v19
Trans light is on
HelloThe engine
and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train
are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and
TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a
problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the
computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some
exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature
sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in
its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems
memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read
you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and
resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL
A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR
HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM
Fuel gauge does not work
A mechanic would check the connector at the tank for a voltage signal from the gauge and for ground.
