I have a 36" Thermador
Exactly what part you replaced. And was there any difference in the problem after and before replacing the part.
------------
as per the problem the possible faulty parts can be Damaged igniter or faulty safety
valve.
1. The thermostat control.
2. The igniter.
3. The automatic valve (also called
the safety valve).
----------
The thermostat, igniter, and safety valve
are wired in a series circuit.
• When the thermostat knob is turned to a
selected setting, electrical contacts in the
thermostat close applying power to the
series ignition circuit.
• With power applied, the ignitor begins to
heat. Electrical resistance in the ignitor
will decrease as the temperature of the
ignitor increases.
• Electrical current in the series circuit
increases in proportion to the drop in
ignitor resistance.
• The igniter limits the electrical
current in the circuit to 3.3 to 3.6 amps.
The surface temperature of the ignitor will
be between 1800° and 2500°F.
• When electrical current has reached the
proper amperage, the automatic safety
valve will open, releasing main burner
gas.
• The ignitor stays energized while the
burner is lit. Once the selected
temperature is reached, the thermostat
contacts will open and remove power from
the ignition circuit. The automatic safety
valve will close after a few seconds, and
the burner flame will go out.
----------And the burner will relight when temp-reaches down from selected. But if the safety gas valve does not open then it will not relight, or if the igniter is weak then it will not relight. The gas pressure is low then it will not let the cook top to relight. When you turn the selector off and turn on,the whole system works as it gets a flow of current. But its not working automatically as it should. Also other possibility can be selector switch/know itself.----------
This possibilities are to be checked.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

Flames are very strong and
Hi,
To start the conversation, i would like to inform you that it could be a risky situation. That's caused by delayed ignition... the
electronic control cards have timers in them so that ignition cannot
occur after the gas valve opens for more than a few seconds...then it
shuts the gas valve off.It is that function that has failed...odds are in the 90% range that replacing the control card will solve the problem.Another cause of delayed ignition is the ignitor too far from the burner, or low gas pressure at the pilot light. You need to properly diagnose and test the above mentioned components.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Igniter keeps firing without being
The most posible cause is that the ingiter have been mositure probably from a water leak and have be short the wires of the ingiter. Their is a small chance that it will dry by it self and be normal again. If not you can remove the top and reach for the ingiter, is a plastic box with a lot of wires in and out and with hair dryer you can try to dry it. If it still sparking again then you need to replace the igniter.
Hellow,I have a double oven

We have a thermador 5 burner gas range top and the
Most gas range tops no longer have pilot lights but use an electronic ignition (sparker) to light the burner. Normally when you turn the burner on you should here a snapping or sparking sound, at which point the burner should ignite. Here is a link to the user manual for 36" - 5 burner Thermador rangetop...maybe this will help:

By the way, in the short term you could always use a match to light the burner. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL THE YOU HAVE THE MATCH LIT AND OVER THE DESIRED BURNER BEFORE YOU TURN KNOB TO START THE BURNER!!!!
