I was in the same situation. Cost me $2.38 to fix. Ordered 12" x 12" rubber sheet from Sustainable Supply and made my own flush valve. Easier than I imagined. All I did was trace the old flush valve on to the sheet with a Sharpie and cut it out with a pair of scissors. Yep, it was that easy. I ordered the 1/32" sheet and it worked on the first try. I would order the 2/32" next time because my handmade flush valve is a little thinner than the original; however, it works perfectly. I was shocked. I had searched the Internet and called all places I found and then decided to give it a go on my own. Here are the specs....it works.Sku: C1749648Rubber, Buna-N, 1/32"Thick, 12"x12", 70A - 4070-1/32A
I had the same issue and basically called every single american standard distributor I could find. I finally found one! They had the gold hinges but I didnt care, it fits and works fine. Make sure you know the part number. I had a good salesperson that knew to look for any color hinge so I had a seat

First you will need to obtain the kit or parts necessary for replacement, compare your parts to your existing before doing anything, you will need your model number and if you had a picture more help could be offered. Begin by turning off the water supply to the toilet, keep a small bucket handy to catch the water, disconnect the supply line at the toilet if your are doing a complete replacement. If its only the handle again a handle kit will need to be obtained for your specific model no need to turn off water but keep in mind your exact handle or button placement. When you have the correct parts its just a matter of remove and replace and take photos of before so you can reference what goes where if you get sidetracked.
if you flush and the water continues to run into the bowl the it is the flush washer that needs repalcing
If that water shuts off and the cistern fills and then continues so that it flows down the over flow pipe into the bowl the it is the water inlet control washer that needs replacing
