How do you remove the control panel on a rbd305pdb14 double oven. lights in oven work fine, just no display.

  • alexzuno Jul 21, 2011

Open the lower oven door (no need to remove the door). Locate the small screw on the lower inside edge of the trim right and left side and remove the screw. Remove the trim by pulling off. On the outer lower side of the control panel remove the small screw for both right and left side and pull off the complete panel. Control panel replacement part nunber is #8302319 from whirlpool.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Double oven - control panel stopped working

Atlanta...sounds like you may have a power supply problem or the panel is bad. Cut the power, open the unit up and see if there is a fuse in there or a reset. No good? Then replace the circuit board. They just, well, die sometime. Happened to my microwave. Some units may be available remanufactured. Look around on the web.

SOURCE: thermador oven control panel light is not working

Please see post by bonanzsapilot on 14 March 2009; he gives exact & easy to follow directions for making this repair for <$10. It's listed uner 'Thermador SC301IT oven - FixYa'. In a separate post I added the correct capacitor numbers from Newark.com. I made the fix in abt 30 min & it's good as new. Thermador no longer makes control panels for this oven & no wiring diagram is available to help. Shop price was estimated at $500.

SOURCE: Jenn-Air JJW8530 LCD panel does not light up

BrianGem posted a great solution back in May of '08, I just completed that fix on my own Jenn air, took me about 30 minutes once I got the correct capacitor.
The display board apparently has a weak spot in the
design, most likely heat related, (probably low priced components from offshore sources)
Fix: Replace heat damaged capacitor labeled C3 on display board, Hard part will be obtaining the 35Volt 68uF capacitor, I'm lucky enough to have a Brother in the electronics design field who found me a couple of high reliability caps designed for hot applications, He does not recommend changing sizes without design review for fear of overloading another component, however several other posts have indicated that a 35V 100mF cap has worked fine for them.

TURN OFF POWER TO OVEN PRIOR TO STARTING ANY REPAIRS.
My control panel was attached to the oven with 4 screws accessed from above the top oven door, the panel slid up about 1/2 " and lifted off, Unplug the ribbon cables and the panel can be removed to a convenient work surface. The display board itself is mounted with 4 screws and connected with a wide flat ribbon cable, the suspect capacitor is surface mounted to the reverse side of the board, two plastic clips need to be released (gently) and the ribbon cable unplugged. Capacitor is likely discolored or leaking, Using as small a soldering iron as you can find De-solder it and replace with new, match polarity marks and don’t use any more solder than needed.
If you run into trouble drop me an e-mail to [email protected] and I’ll try to help.
Good luck.
Thanks for this site..

SOURCE: how to remove the control panel on Whirlpool double oven Model RBD305PDS14

Emge & Associates is investigating gas and electric ovens manufactured by Whirlpool, including such popular brands as Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid and Maytag.
The firm is investigating reports that the electronic control panel on certain models is subject to failure after a limited number of uses of the appliance’s “self-cleaning” setting. While most foods are cooked at temperatures reaching 375 degrees, the “self-cleaning” setting raises the interior oven temperature to 1,400 degrees. Due to defects in the design and or manufacturing, the electronics contained on many ranges are damaged by extremely high heat. Repairs to damaged control panels typically cost in excess of $300 per replacement.
If you have experienced failure of the control panel in your range after using the “self-cleaning” setting, you can join this investigation by contacting Emge & Associates at (800) 629-3409 or (619) 618-2974.

There is a thermal fuse at the connection for the control board.

You can get this board a lot faster. Here is the link. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/8302319R/0022/664. No heat! Lights work, timer etc - everything "appears" to be working but there is no heat!

Probably your heating element has failed, dependant on appliance the element can be found in the oven itself at the back behind a panel that normally has a couple of screws holding the panel in place. reasonably easy to fit yourself and not very costly.

Hope this helps

Model # RBD305PDB14 - can't read the display panel - the light is out or something but can't figure out how to change it.

You can not change the light on this panel, but you can change out the whole display panel to work properly. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so if you'll give me a call as soon as you get a chance, we can ship the part out to you right away. 972-859-0929. We look forward to hearing from you and getting your oven working right again.

My clock and temperature display is dim

Hi, this will happen over a period of time and its just heat related. the control panel isn't insulated properly and , there has been a larger than normal transfer of heat to the inside of the control panel where the circuits are housed.

If this is a problem, i recommend replacing the control board. it will fix the dim issue.
