I have an everio GZ MS120AAA, and am able to view video on my computer, only if I change the file name suffix to mpg. But this makes the file unusable for anything else. How do I view the video without changing the file suffix? I would like to use moviemaker or some editing program, but movie maker does not recognise my video.

Format the hard drive, one of the files on the hdd are corrupt, I had the same problem and I formatted the hard drive on my camera and the computer would read the camera again. It sucked though because I lost all my pictures in the process but that was the only way to get it to work. I had tried everything else before that.

SOURCE: JVC Everio Camcorder-cannot make movie file

I use Sony Vegas 8 Movie Studio...a great piece of software...and use the Storm codec pack to view .mod files that the JVC puts out:

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Storm-Codec-Download-20053.html

scroll down to download mirror for STORM Codecs, not AVS.

Good luck.

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!

Lost the disks that came with hybrid everio(JVC) 30gb

You can go to the cybelink website and download a trial copy of the software that came with the camcorder. The software is ; Cyberlink Power Cinema, Power Directer, and Power Producer. The camcorder's format is also recognizable by Mac. Or if you dont want ot eventually buy the new software you can manually change the file extension of you movies off the camcorder to .mpg to view back your video using windows media player. Until you get editing software, you would not be able to edit your movies. Adobe Premier Elements 4 works fine with .mov files and Final cut pro.

I have a JVC GZ MG145AA and i dont know how to transfer files to my computer

Their should be a USB mini plug in the very front of the camcorder.
Just left of the Microphone. Plug in a cable and the other end to you computer. Turn on the JVC If a prompt pops up on you Computer. Choose to open the folder. Or go to my computer, and find the drive that should be created. Just open the drive and find the files you want. Select them and drag them to you desktop.

A trick I had to do to get the *.moi movies to play on windows was change the file extent-ion to *.mpg..

JVC Everio GZ-HD3 Flash Media Camcorder

If you plug in the USB cable from the camera to a Windows XP machine, the Everio disk looks like a USB disk drive, and I can copy the files over using Windows Explorer. In order to convert them to MPG files, we are using Cyberlink PowerDirector5 NE Express, since the camera produces TOD files, which need to be converted to MPG. We are using MAGIX as the video editor after the conversion from TOD to MPG.

How to save video files in the mpg folder of everio - GZ_MG37AA

This camera only saves videos as *.MOD files and photos as *.jpg To save your video files as *.mpg you will need to take them off the camera, on to a Mac or PC and use a third party file converter. Download this from www.squared5.com it's FREE.
If you are using a mac you will also need to Purchase MPEG 2 software from Apple (about $20)

Everio GZ-Mg155

When you download your video files onto your pc and go to find them in the prg files you notice two kinds of files. The big ones with extension .mod are the video files. I've had success changing the file extension to .mpg and then importing it to your other editing software programs. Hope this helps.
