Why have ive lost the function to use the at key

Hi Diane Andrews

You stated as you have lost the @ function on your keyboard . And by looking at your DP i suppose its a laptop . Well then if so you might need to reset the keyboard layout settings for your laptop . Different OS has its different settings . You might have changed your language settings which may or might have caused it . Steps on how to its here . But if you have lost the @ key itself then ... you might need to get it change at your nearest computer repair shop or bring it to the vendor . Or maybe for time being you can use the on screen keyboard

CLick start - under the search - type On screen Keyboard and select it to use it .

Basic .. Fix an external keyboard and try if it works on that keyboard . If it does then your laptop keyboard might be at fault or need to change the settings .

Method 1 of 3: Changing the Language Settings (Windows)

If your keyboard is not displaying the correct characters when you press keys, your language settings may have gotten changed. If you have the incorrect region selected, your keyboard will act differently. To change it back, open the Control Panel.

You can access the Control Panel from the Start menu. Windows 8 users can right-click on the Windows button and select Control Panel from the menu

Open the Language settings. How you access this depends on which version of Windows you are using.

Windows 8 - If you are in Category mode, select "Change input methods" under the "Clock, Language, and Region" section. If you are in Icon mode, select "Languages".

Windows Vista and 7 - If you are in Category mode, select "Change keyboards and other input methods" under the "Clock, Language, and Region" section. If you are in Icon mode, select "Region and Language" and then click the "Keyboards and Languages" tab. Click the Change keyboards... button.

Windows XP - select "Regional and Language Options", click the Languages tab, and then click Details..

Select your language. Use the menu to select the default input language you want to use. In Windows Vista and 7, select your preferred language from the "Default input language" drop-down menu. In Windows 8, move your preferred input language to the top of the list.

Language change english

keep searching 'setting'
language option always comes with A
Changing keyboard language You can choose between a wide variety of languages, layouts and regions for your keyboard, so you can find the appropriate letters, characters, symbols and abbreviations. Your phone also offers word suggestions and spelling corrections based on the language you choose.
  1. On Start, flick left to the App list, then tap Settings > Keyboard.
  2. Select all the languages you'd like to be able to use from your keyboard.
The next time you use your keyboard, you'll see a button next to the Space bar that indicates which language you're currently using on your keyboard.
  3. Tap the button to switch between all the languages you've selected. For example, if you usually use a US English keyboard, tap the ENU button, and the keyboard switches to the next language you've selected.

How can I type Japanese o keybord?

Hai ! This is possible : )

Type in Chinese, Japanese, and other character-based languages

To type text on your computer in character-based languages, such as Chinese and Japanese, follow these steps:

[Source: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Type-in-Chinese-Japanese-and-other-character-based-languages]

  1. Add the language as an input language. If you want to use an input method editor (IME), make sure you select it when you add the input language. For more information, see Add an input language.
    Add an input language

You can edit documents in multiple languages by changing the language (the input language) in which you type. Input languages are included with Windows, but you need to add them to your list of languages before you can use them.

    1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.

    3. Under Installed services, click Add.

    4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click the text services you want to add, select the text services options you want to add, and then click OK.

  1. Change your input language to the language you installed. For more information, see Change your input language.

Change your input language

The input language is a setting in Windows that controls the language you use to type information on your computer. Before you can change an input language, you need to add that language to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.
To change the input language

Click the Input language button on the Language bar, and then click the input language you want to use.

If you don't see the Language bar, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and then click Language bar.

  1. Change your keyboard layout to the desired layout. For more information, see Change your keyboard layout.

Change your keyboard layout

You can customize your keyboard for a specific language or format by changing the keyboard layout. The layout controls which characters appear on the screen when you press the keys on your keyboard. Some input languages have several keyboard layouts; others have only one. For example, you can change your keyboard layout from the English QWERTY format to the English Dvorak format. After you change the layout, the characters on your screen might not correspond to the characters on your keyboard keys.

Before you can change the keyboard layout, you must add the input language and keyboard layout that you want to use to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.
