Frigidaire side by side frig wont keep steady temperature

We have replaced cold control 2 times in 1 year. 1st worked good for the year , but new 1 wont hold steady? Temp. goes from 27 deg to 50 deg. It has been 3 weeks since control was replaced . Both times the frige side froze everything, busted the water filter cup, water every where inside(did it in the night). The freezer side seems to be good. What could it be now?

SOURCE: freezer is freezing but fridge is not cold as it was

Sounds like defrost timer is not putting the refrigerator in defrost every 8 hours. You freezer should be below -5 degrees. Also the condenser beneath the refrigerator possibly needs cleaning. First slowly turn the defrost timer clockwise until freezer goes in defrost. You should hear the sound of crackling noise in freezer after about one minute into defrost. If timer does not come out of defrost or does not turn itself then replace it. Let me know what you find, Thanks Sea Breeze

How do I set my settings for the frig and freezer?

Hi friend, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that you are having difficulty with the temperature settings on your Frigidaire refrigerator. Depending on your refrigerator style on a top mount there should be a cold control on the inside of the fresh food side that would be used to adjust your temperature. On a side by side or French door bottom mount the temperature control is located on the front control panel. Typically, as a "+" or "-" symbol to adjust the temperature. If any adjustments are made to the temperature, please allow 24 hours for the temperature to set properly. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt

I have a Frigidaire model# FRS26H7CSB1. THE FREEZER IS NOT GETTING COLD ENOUGH AND THE FRIG IS COLD BUT ONLY WHEN SET TO LOWEST TEMP SETTING. The metal frame/pillar between the freezer and frig is very...

The freezer not getting cold enough is defiantly due to the condenser fan motor not working. You would be best served to replace the fan motor with the correct part number though others will work, a small desk fan blowing in the back would work. As to the temperature issue in the refrigerator, you might have a bad t-stat.

Freezer not freezing, fridge seems too cold

If the refrigerator is in the house and the temperature in side is between 60 and 80 it should be able to hold good temperatures. If it is in a garage or outside it will not work as well.

If it is inside the first thing to try is resetting the controls. Turn the Fresh food control to a low setting and the freezer setting to maximum. Wait 24 hours and recheck. If this does not work you will need to replace the cold control. To find the part number you will need the complete model number located on the tag.

Frigidaire side by side frigerator freezer keeps freezing up. HAve to unplug to defrost and it works ok for about a week, then no longer cools frig side but frosts up the entire freezer area. unit 9 years...

I too had an aging frig with a similar problem. It's probably either your defrost timer or the defrost heating element. If you're handy, you can troubleshoot the problem yourself by following the suggestions found here. It's not a complicated fix, but if you are uncomfortable taking your refrigerator apart, then contacting a qualified repair person may be your best bet. Hope this information helps!

Frigidaire Refrigerator FRS26H5ASB5 side-by-side

Hi, yes, your thermostat could be faulty, yes there should vent( damper), check controls on freezer side, controls amount of cold air going to ref. side, yes could be stuck by ice, yes both adjustment are necessary, check manual, some thermostat are very sensitive, you should adjust gradually, wait for about 40 minutes, before adjusting again. yes there's vent flap (damper) yes that could be your problem, normally they get stuck with ice, remove covers to locate it., you 're smart, you will see, damper, good luck.

Water comes out of my frig door dispensor but its not cold?

on most all refrigerators the 1st 2 glasses of water may only be room temperature because of the way the water tubing is routed thru the refrig. if you will notice on your dispenser cover it does not say chilled or ice water. thanks for using  FixYa Peyton

Not keeping cold both frig and freezer side.

First you need to check if the compressor is working properly.
Remove the rear panel and look for a cylinder with bunch of copper lines going in and out. feel those copper lines one of them should be warm and the other should be cold. Also you should hear the compressor working (pretty noisy) when the temperature in the freezer is not cold enough. If the lines are about same temperature and the compressor does not seem to work, the first place to check is the starter relay. Often the relay breaks. The part is WHIRLPOOL 2188830 2220475 RELAY. I found one on ebay.

Good luck
