The "PCI Device" and the "PCI Serial Port" could be a modem that lacks the device-drivers.
Access: http://WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com and do a "custom" search.
When it completes, click "optional hardware updates", to see if Windows Update is offering any device-drivers for your hardware.

The intel (R) adapters are not present in the computer

Intel adapters I am familiar with are integral to the mother board, which is not to say Intel doesn't make other types of adapters. Look at the device manager and if you find it there, remove the device and reboot.

If they are PCI based, physically remove them - boot - test your computer - shut down. Restart - reinstall the software. Shut down - reinstall the PCI device (or what ever Intel has told you to do with this NIC

Device manager is showing PCI Deice missing

Hi you should try the motherboard website for drivers. Usually drivers that come with Windows XP are generic.
Try going in to Device manager, Uninstall the driver and reinstalling the driver that you downloaded from motherboard vendor site.

HP Pavilion 760 pci device

hi, when you see the yellow of PCI devices this means you have to check all the cards that connect to your board as PCI, so this could be sound card, vedio card, modem or any pci card, just double check with your pci cards, so if you have pci sound or vedio see if the driver there if not will be one of them, But many times people doesnot recognize that they have extra pci card which could be for usb use, or output devices, etc...
