After adjusting convergence via controls the kids will come in room and jump or shake the floor the colors seperate again. What is this indicative of. Obviously some thing is loose. This is on a 2000, 53" projection tv. It also goes oit of wack without the shaking, sometimes

Go into menu and with original remote call up convergence--either it has a problem(will not adjust) or you may with the remote be able to manually adjust the convergence back: sometimes if a power outage/surge it scrambles the convergence memory.

When the convergence will not adjust after you know you have set them correctly using your TV's convergence adjustment, your convergence board went bad. You can either repair it yourself with kits sold online (links below) but unless you know how to solder very well, opt for a repair guy. Your model will cost between $350 and $450 if you hire someone.

If you like to tinker but not dwell into the soldering world, try finding the same model for free or dirt cheap on a web site like www.craigslist.org that still works but like where a kid jumped into the screen!, and swap out the board.

this is a problem with the convergence chip. you can try to adjust the convergence in the menu settings of the t.v.
pin cushioning will correct the curves, convergence fixes color seperation.

write the number down before changing them, in case you make it worse.

The colors seperating is a convergence problem, as far as being dim this may be related but the TV likely needs service adjustments.

convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

You can get the convergence repair kit at www.tvrepairworld.com which contains the parts and the CD which has the instructions and the service manual on it. You would need the PT53WX53 convergence kit.

Your TV most likely a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

did you replace the tw0 5 amp pico fuses F9A04 and F9A05 as they usually open when an IC fails

this is a very nice tv very strong, but you have a problem on the convergence circuit or more likely on the power circuit for the convergence and this is the reason why the main processor it doesn't recognize this circuit. it need service not a mayor problem.

Shrink, the convergence circuit needs to be repaired, Until someone gets in there and takes a few measurements it`s hard to say what the cost will be, may just need to be re-soldered, good luck, BMW Rider

I have a similar problem. I have tried to fix the convergence via the remote and that has not helped. My three colors are separated and the edge of the picture is bent in toward the center. I am going to try a hard reset but i suspect the convergence IC are fried. Since the set is not HD, I will probably replace it if the hard reset does not work.
