To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times.

2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies)

It definitely sounds like it's time to have a TV repair man come check it out, or you will have to bring your TV into a TV repair shop. If you are familiar with working on TV's and have the proper equipment and electrical knowledge, you may be able to take apart the TV yourself and check for damaged capacitors, or boards that need to be replaced. there is probably quite a few "dry joints" that needs re soldering in the power supply section.
This should solve your problems rather than buying a new one.
Good luck and Thanks for using fixya.

I need a new Lamp.

Hello.
in VS models there is no such a thing as a lamp. Your TV have 3 CRT tubes (picture tubes) each of them dedicated to Green, Red and Blue part of image accordingly.
It is not the part that you can easy replace by yourself and it cost new around $600 and just to refurbish existing one around $320.
But you have to refurbish all three of them at the same time. So we are talking about $1000 just for parts, not to mention enormous effort to align everything back together.
If you have bad CRT in your TV - I would advise just to trash it and invest in new one.
Lamp is replaceable in DLP projection Mitsubishi TV and it is next generation of TV"s. Model number starts with: "WD".
If you still insist on part number - I need to know what color of CRT you need - they have different part numbers.
Best regards
Russ.

Intermitent audio if you jiggle TV sound comes on for a while

I would be looking for broken solder points on the underside of the signal board. Touch up with an iron and fresh solder. Trace the speaker wires to the plug on the board for a good starting point. If no obvious cracks look in immediate vicinity. Goodluck.

WS-55909 convergence problem turns now into F9A04 Fuse issue

I had this happen on my WS55909 about 2 years ago. I dont remember what the circuit id's for the fuses were, but out of 6 fuses on the middle board, the two in the middle were blown. I traced the circuit schematic and found that only the convergence IC could cause these fuses to blow. It sounds like you already put in a new convergence IC (the one with the big-*** heat-sink which probably also needs a fan) but you need to make sure all those fuses on that board are still good. After I replaced that IC, my TV still didn't work. I went and double checked for continuity of all the fuses on that board and one was blown (after checking all of them and replacing the IC). Replaced it and the TV has worked ever since. Total repair cost was 23 bucks. Professionals recommended that I would be better off just buying a LCD TV than fixing my rear projection TV, but I still dont think you can get one of those as big as 55" for only 23 bucks! ****. BTW, mitsubishi would probably tell you otherwise, but you don't have to use those "littlefuse" fuses. I soldered in a fuse-holder for a glass fuse of the same value (5amp 125v in my case) that can be purchased at radio shack. A fuse is a fuse. My TV never burst into flames.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal.
