It seems that the Sonic update manager is updating automatically or popping up while booting the computer.

This may be caused by removing certain non-Sonic/Roxio applications that share file resources with our Sonic/Roxio software. To resolve, it is required to replace these files with a fix utility.

It is not required to reinstall this application entirely.

It is just required to run this fix utility and reboot the computer.

Note: close all applications regarding Sonic and Roxio before installing.

Follow this procedure and your problem will be resolved. Do exactly i say..!

Step 1:- First Downlaod the windows Clean up utility.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Click on the link above --> and then Under Summary Option on this page.

Click on the link mention below:-
( Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now. )

Install the windows clean up utility on the computer.

Once it is installed Hit the finish button.

Now Click on start-->go to All programs-->navigate
Microsoft windows Clean up utility software.--> click on it and runn it.

Once the Clean up utility window opens up.

Find out sonic Update Manager in the list you see.

Click on it and highlight it .

Now click on the button remove at the botton of that screen.

Once it is gone. Restart the computer your system will not pop up that message again.

( Reason :- The reason why you are getting that message is that the sonic Update Manager software is not installed properly on your system which is why it keeps poping up the MSI ( microsoft Installer ) on your screen for sonic Update Manager. )

So to get rid of it just remove the MSI from the list in windows clean up utility and it will not pop up again.

Let me know if it works for you.

Please do follow the instructions as provided. It will work.

Every time I start my comp I get this message. sonic focus drivers need to be loaded in order for intel audio studio controller application to work

You will need to download the latest sound card drivers for your pc. You can go to softpedia.com or download.com or many other sites.

You can also go to control panel, performance & maintenance, system, hardware, and finally device manager. Then expand the list, look for your audio card or sonic program and update drivers from here.

It's a message keep popping up on the screen about sonic updated manage some like that

This is about Sonic software installed on your PC. If your PC is new then just update it. Please use this link: http://tools.roxio.com/support/dell/isum_hotfix.exe
If you're not using it and really wants to get rid of it, then all you have to do is to just disable it. To disable the Sonic Update service that starts up when you computer starts, you can go to Start, click on Run, and then type in MSCONFIG and pressing Enter .
Next click on the Startup tab and you’ll see a list of all of the processes that start up when your computer starts up. You can uncheck any service to prevent it from loading during bootup. For the Sonic software, you need to search for startup item named sgtray, or that has the words Sonic Update Manager or Update Manager in the path for the command or location. Also, if you see isuspm or issch, go ahead and uncheck them too.
Hope this help . . .

Roxio update manager cannot find Um.msi

I found this...may be helpful...

Usually, a "UM.MSI" error means that the update manager may have become corrupted and needs to be reinstalled

To resolve :

> Permanently remove the Sonic Update Manager. This will not affect the performance of any Sonic/Roxio software currently installed on the system.

> Reinstall the application.if any errors while installing then install the fix.

> Be sure all Sonic and Roxio applications are shut down before launching this utility. This hotfix requires a reboot. No reinstallation of the software is necessary.

A unwanted pop up (SONIC UPDATE MANAGER) refuses to be deleted & trys to prevent me logging on & off

Sounds like spyware/adware. Download Microsoft Defender from Microsoft.com and run a scan and then delete anything that it finds unless you're sure you want it.

A pop up.refuses to be deleated its called (sonic update manager) It has not been asked for & messes up logging in & logging out.

Hello,
This pop up is because Sonic update Manager is running in the background. If you don't use Sonic then uninstall it else if you want to keep Sonic but get rid of this pop-up then
click on start --> Run --> type msconfig in the run box
Go to Services tab and first check the bottom check box that says "Hide all Microsoft services" then go through the list and see if you can find anything that matches the description of Sonic update Manager and uncheck it.
Click on the Startup tab and uncheck the items that match the sonic description.
Apply the changes and the computer would ask you to reboot to apply the changes, reboot the computer.

Let me know if you still face issues after that.

Please rate the solution

Srinivas

Download and install CCleaner.
You can use ccleaner to clean up all windows and internet temporary files, ren a registry clean and also in "tools > startup" stop that annoying Sinic nag screen from coming up.
