How to remove the screen from the y510

The thin plastic 'frame' in the front of the LCD screen, is the Display Bezel.

Goes by many names. Display Bezel is used by HP.

Display Mask, LCD Bezel, LCD Panel Bezel, and LCD Front Bezel, are a few other examples.

Lenovo/IBM uses LCD Front Bezel.

Lenovo doesn't show an HMM for the IdeaPad's, other than for the S9e series, and S10e series, (Notebook), plus the A1-07 series. (Tablet)
(Hardware Maintenance Manual)

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/SupportSearchResults.page?searchText=ideapad+hmm

(An HMM is a Service Manual)

I also see there are no guides posted by users.

Therefore we'll have to 'wing it', using my years of experience with repairing laptops, and you as the tech.

1) Do you see any screw covers on the LCD Front Bezel?

May not be the usual synthetic rubber covers. May be plastic, and the same plastic, and color as the LCD Front Bezel.

Example,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-broken-lcd-screen-lenovo-x60s-laptop/

Scroll down to the photos in Steps 1 and 2.

Also note the 'seals' on the side of the Display Assembly, shown in Step 2 photo.

We'll start with this.

2) Haven't worked on a Y510, and perusing the internet; it seems no one has found a solution, for removing the LCD Front Bezel off of an IdeaPad Y510.

{ ALL power removed before beginning. Remove the AC adapter
(Charger), and Battery }

3)
A) There is no sticky double-sided tape holding it on.

B) Can't simply 'pop' it off, as with other Display Bezels, that do not use Philips head screws to hold it on.

[ For all Display Bezels, (Other than this baby, perhaps), there are locking tabs on the outside edges of the Display Bezel.

These match up to snap locks, on the inside edge of the Display Cover. (Top cover of laptop)
When the Display Bezel is removed, the locks snap loose ]

C) I suggest remove the screws which hold the Display Assembly to the laptop, and see if at the bottom of the Display Assembly, there are screw covers, or just screws, to remove.

If there are, and no other screw covers/screws to remove, the LCD Front Bezel should pop off.

This is what I mean by pop off,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-screen-on-lenovo-g560-laptop/

Step 2 and 3.

{ The laptop is made by Wistron. (Philippines) One of the three major laptop manufacturers, that makes laptops for ALL laptop brand manufacturers.
Such as Acer, Compaq, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Asus, you name it }

Hi,i am using lenovo ideapad y510 the screen will not displaying what is the problem

Hi. If the laptop is turning on then try draining the electrostatic enerygy of the motherboard. Take out the battery and unplugged the power cord from the wall socket. Press nad hold the power button for 30 sces to drain the electrostactic energy. Put everything back in after 30 sces and turn ON the computer. If still same problem then this could be a LCD problem. You may call lenovo technical support at 1-877-453-6686 then press option 3 if you want to have the issue repaired.

My lenovo Y510 ideapad turns on but the screen remains black. All of the buttons light up, but the screen stays like it is in sleep mode. I have tried rebooting, removing the battery but nothing seems to...

The next tim eit is turned on, try shiniing a bright flashlight directly on the screen.

If you can see anything there then the backlight has burned out on the screen, and will need to be replaced.

If you cant see anything, try hooking up an external monitor to the laptop, if you have a desktop the monitor for it will work for the test..

If the external monitor you hook up will work, then you will have to replace the screen..

( or at a minimum the inverter board, or check that the cables are tight that go to the screen)

I am not able to open my laptop, when I tried to open the screen it makes some noise as if something is getting crushed

If you are trying to disassemble the LCD screen and hear cracking sounds then - the crushing/cracking sound is most likely that you have cracked the LCD screen in several places. If you look at an acute angle you will see cracks in the LCD screen.
Replace screens are available at LCD Parts, they supply parts, repair service and DIY info. Use this link to their WEB site.
