When I try to send a fax it gives me a message that says Remote Fax Error. It will let me recieve faxes but not send them. It was given to me & didnt come with a book. Whta can I do to fix the problem? Its not connected to my computer just my phone line. Thanks Mary!!

I have been sending and receiving faxes for over a year on my Lexmark X6100 printer. Now whenever I try to send a fax it will say it is sending the pages but then waits for a redial. After doing the same thing a second time it will print out "remote fax error"
Well..all new fax machines are NOT compatible with all older fax machines. There's not much you can do about this. Try it with a known good fax number, and see how that goes..

Hi. You may be having a problem with the quality of connection. Check telephone cable for any physical defects. Try to plug printer in a different phone jack in the wall. Try to call your phone company to have the line checked, maybe they can do something to increase the quality of signal. Make sure that you already registered the user information like your fax name and your fax number in the fax by going to Fax mode > press Menu > Fax setup > Dialling and Sending > Your Fax Name or Your Fax Number. You can also decrease the transmission speed of your fax by going to Fax mode > press Menu > Fax setup > Dialling and Sending > Max Send Speed > change the speed to 9600 bps > hit check to save settings. Hope this helps.
To activate it you should install the fax program. this will require that you register your fax adress.
this is a requirement of utilizing the system of sending and recieving Fax.
Just fill in the information as requested, and it will register your Fax adress.
As soon as you hav ecompleted this,you will be able to send and recieve fax,
and no more error messages, unless ther is a technical problem.
Try to verify this by sending the same fax to other fax machines. If these transmissions are successful, then notify the user of the remote machine to make them aware of the issue.
If the fax fails when sending to other machines, turn it off for 10 seconds, turn back on, and then try sending again.

4. Then press the "Options" button 10 times till it reads "Max Send Speed."
5. Now press the "Right Arrow" button and choose "9600 bps."
6. Press the "Select" button.
To disable "Error Correction," please follow the steps given below:
1. Please press the "Fax" button.
2. Press the "Options" button 15 times till it reads "Advanced Fax" on the display.
3. Press the "Select" button.
4. Then press the "Options" button 11 times till it reads "Error Correction."
5. Now press the "Right Arrow" button and choose "NO."
What happens if you dial the remote fax number as a voice call on another phone? Does that number pick up? Does it give you the modem handshake noise? If not, the remote side has a problem.

What happens when you dial your own fax line from another phone? If your fax does not pick up and talk to you, your fax may have a problem.
