Mitsubishi WS-65908 After 20 min. Screen starts to blackout in top corners and then the entire screen becomes dark barely veiwable. Sometime it looks like the image is pulled inward producing a "V" shape. Only way to fix is to turn it off for a while.

THe TV is about 8 to 10 yrs old. Was hardly ever used. Maybe once ever couple months. I moved and started using it every day. Never changed anything on it. Not sure where to buy parts and is it worth fixing? When it was working last week it gave a great HD picture. Hate to throw it away.

Hello,

How long have you been using this TV? Have you ever changed the lamp?

This problem is more or less like a lamp problem. The lamp is dying and it will get to a point when the TV won't display any picture at all.

I would suggest you replace the lamp of your TV. Mostly likely, you might need to replace the ballast as well. The ballast helps to ignite the lamp for sharper picture quality.

Let me know if you have any more questions....

Good luck.

Hi, I think it is worth fixing since nothing has ever been changed on it. This problem is a minor one..........

Go to any electronics parts store/shop within you vicinity and you will find a replacement bulb there.

    Regards.

Mitsubishi WS 55805 nothing but blue screen and black square in middle

A full service manual is available online---I will presume you tried to unplug it for a while and then power back to see if will reset itself.

This set has three hidden menus---one is the OPTION menu--in that menu with the Mitsubishi remote you can do a hard reset of the entire set= sets all back to factory except convergence adjustments which are stored in another area--cures all kinds of oddball issues.

I can give you a link to the manual and the page numbers for the OPTION menu.

Note: the other two hidden menus are Convergence and adjustment--do not go into adjustment menu as one wrong move and poof!

I have a Mitsubishi 55"

This set has a convergence problem. You should only need to replace the IC. Part is STK393-110. It sits on the middle board behind the large heatsink. Use a heat transfer compound to ensure repair lasts. If you have no experience soldering (or unsoldering) please use a professional for the work. The traces are fragile and I have fixed many mistakes local DIYers have committed. Goodluck.

Cabinet removal

Unfortunatly no there isnt. The tv bottom contains all the circuits, color guns, speakers. From where the bottom of the screen starts to the top is all part of the entire cabinet which is molded plastic. The top part contains a mirror and the screen you see as well as possibly a remote sensor. Short of sawing it in half and tossing it away you could take it apart but this would have to be done completely to gain you the most space and could be dangerous considering the high voltage transformer that the unit uses to power the color guns.
