According to page 6 of the manual for the "3 cu. ft. Capacity Maytag® Centennial® Top Load Washer" and page 8 of the manual for the "Centennial® High-Efficiency Top Load Washer", not more than 1 cup (250 ml) should be used in either machine.

Also, it should be added to the dispenser cup on the front left of the machine - not directly to the wash as it will interfere with the detergents ability to clean the clothes.

I hope this helps & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thanks.

How do you clean a Maytag Neptune top loading washer

Tip: Prevent a Smelly Washer With Powdered Dishwasher Detergent

I have a great tip for making a smelly clothes washer smell fresh and clean, given to me by a Maytag repairman. Simply run dishwasher detergent powder, not liquid, through your machine with no clothing in it, about once or twice a month.
It works and it is cheaper than the specialized products that do the same thing. Use the same amount you would use of laundry detergent for your particular machine.

How do i fing out if my washer is still under Warr.? I have a Maytag centennial washer

The standard warranty is 1 year from date of purchase for all parts and labor. I believe the Centennial Series has a 10 year warranty on the wash tub (basket) and motor, parts only. So if your washer is over 1 year old, the pump would not be covered. If I may ask, why do you think the pump is defective? Can you provide the model number of your washer?

This is a manual. Since there are so many versions, you might need to search for the appropriate one. I searched for "Maytag centennial top load washer repair manual". Washer immediately goes into wash cycle when filling with water on initial start. At the end of the spin cycle ,washer dumps water back in to drum. Also,it's not getting the detergent out of clothes. Maytag...

The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.

this washer is built by whirlpool and is not the old maytag machine that you have been use to using, the whirlpool family of warshers are not the quietest washer on the market just the best in my opinion,
