Hello, I have a problem with my Western Digital it's a WD3200AAJS-56M0A0 model. I noticed that Windows 7 was taking very long to boot, it would stay 5 mins at the Win 7 logo screen and after that my comp would run slow sometimes, then I decided to format my WD and install WinXP, turns out it's the same thing it would take 2 mins or so at the XP logo but after that it would run normally. Anyway I did another format(this time it was giving me errors throughout the process, but continued anyway). Now I'm using HDD Regenerator to repair bad sectors but it's really slow and I don't think it will fix my hdd, any suggestions please?

SOURCE: My hd suddenly does work. In

you could run the chkdsk utility
click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive another way of running the chkdsk utility
click start control panel administrive tools, computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart
do not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage your computer
then defragment your hard drive
hope this helps

One short beep one long beep coming from hard drive

..as i know when HDD start beeping ( internal or portable ) that indicate problem with the Hard Drive (HDD)..so nothing you can do it by your self ..

..if the HDD is under warranty from factory you may take it to the store that you buy or nearest Western Digital distributor to claim the warranty...but if it doesn't in warranty..that's mean a problem why?

because if HDD start beeping like you have, the possibility to make it work again is almost impossible that mean you maybe lost the data that you save in this HDD..

The low level format that you are using will identify the bad sectors and put an "X" on them so that no data ever gets stored there. Ergo no critical file(s) will ever be corrupted or not work and your machine should work good as new until the drive starts going bad again. The low level format always takes time especially on the large drives when it can sometimes take up the better part of a day. But it will restore the drive to an as new condition for no dinero. No brainer.

However, I would not really trust the drive for long periods of time and if I continue to use it I can expect other bad sectors to develop. So it would be wise for you to on a monthly basis do a backup to prepare for the eventuality of the drive finally dying.

My WD3200AAJS will not spin up. I think the PC board is fried. where do i get a replacement for it. I need to get the information from the hard drive.

Just a suggestion;
I would buy another Western Digital WD3200AAJS, remove the circuit board, and install it in the one that needs it.

Copy off the needed info, then discard the drive. Install the circuit board back into the one it came out of, and have a good 320GB SATA Harddrive.

After a year, this WD50000AAKS just stop working and cannot find in BIOS. Stay away from this Western Digital SATA drive ****.

the problem is the controler og the drive wich is:
Marvell, 88i6745-TFJ1, internal EEPROM: - this chip is used in Western Digital's Tornado family, eg WD5000AAKS-xxTMA0, WD5000AAKS-xxYGA0, WD3200AAJS. - it has a common failure mode that mimics head/media faults, eg clicking, spin-down.found it here: http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/HDD/HDD_ICs.txt
