I think you have to shut your computer down completely and reboot. This means that you will lose any work you didn't save before going in standby mode.
If your PC has a 'reset' button (usually located near the power button), press it. Your machine should reboot. If it doesn't or if you don't have one, you can try pressing and holding the power button for about 5 seconds. This should shut down your computer completely. Press the power button once more and it should boot normally, though you might get a warning saying Windows didn't shut down properly. If you get the choice, just choose to boot Windows normally.
If pressing and holding the power button doesn't work, try looking for a power switch on the back of your machine. It should be near the power cable. Flip the switch, wait a few seconds and flip it again, then boot your computer as usual. You might get the same message which I mentioned above.
