Hi, when I turn on the Acer Aspire 5920, the acer screen comes on, the bar across the bottom moves, then it goes to a blank dark screen with a blinking cursor. I have tried turning off and turning on and pressing f8 repeatedly while booting,but this does nothing - it still goes to a blinking cursor.

reinstall your windows to fix all your problems.

try to shut down the laptop completely. Remove cables and battery into it. Then press and hold power button for 8 secs. Reinsert the cables and battery back then turn it on. Contact Acer if symptom persist

The hard disk has died. Replace it and reinstall Windows.

I think this is the problem of LCD.if it is then u should go to nearest service center .

operating system of your laptop has crashed. you have to reinstall operating system. entire data which was stored on desktop, My documents will be lost.

Turn on your laptop and open DVD rom. Insert bootable CD which you might got with laptop. then it will start itself. and follow the instructions given on the screen.

The power button may not work, that is most common in laptops, or you have a short.

have you checked your bios settings are you booting from the right drive have you tried recovery?

can you go to bios? load default setings in bios, or optimized settings, then try... when something like that happens i usully pull out batery on mother board, than wait about few seconds and pul it back in... bu that is to much work. try above,, and let me know

im afraid that your screen is broken, but try to move the screen foward and backward littlebit, my friend also have the same problems and only by contact local support using his warranty the problems fix, you may open your laptop to see if something wrong with the wire but i think its not practically good.

Do you have the original installation CD for your screen? Try to reinstall it.
