When you get it to boot, run CHKDSK/F or Scandisk straight away to try and fix any errors before you find you are unable to get to your files anymore.
Make a backup of your data before it is too late!

You could have the battery settings wrong.

Go to Control Panel, Change Battery Settings, then Change Plan Settings of whichever plan is selected. Once there, set your display brightness for when the charger is connected to maximum with the slider. While there, you can also set the display brightness for when the battery is connected.

IF you can get a USB mouse, plug it in, and see if the pointer shows up.... IF so, you can go to the next step... IF not there is a major issue. IF you do see the pointer, look along the top of the keyboard for a "f-key" that looks like your touch pad (it may be just a rectangle), press and hold the "Fn" key (found along the bottom of the keyboard towards the left side) and then press the "f key" the you found along the top, then release both keys together...
