The memory is under the keyboard on these models. Remove the plastic piece with the power button, and you will see the screws for the keyboard. Don't forget to rate me (fixya). thanks

How do I access the RAM for upgrading?

make sure it is unplugged and powered off and battery removed before removing screws.
the screws are small so you will need a small screwdriver Usually Phillips head
There may or may not be a memory module in there already. Make sure to research proper memory size - speed and brand before upgrading.
You will be removing the keyboard and other components make sure to note where they go and dont pull too hard

Toshiba A45-S250 laptop keeps trying to load XP but keeps rebooting. I would like to use my recovery disk but I don't know how to get the laptop to recognize or boot from the disk. Safe Mode won't load...

Sorry mate...
It seems the the issue is with RAM.
A complete Hardware malfunction/ failure issue.
All you can do it is to replace the RAM that you have in ur laptop.
It will work for sure.
Best of luck.

Where is the ram?

Removing the keyboard exposes the two memory slots, which are covered by a plastic sheet.

You can download the owners manual here which gives directions to remove and replace your ram. (Starts at page 70) Click here:

Most toshibas have a small screw on the bottom of the computer, next to the memory cover. take screw out and the use a paper clip or turn on laptop, to eject dvd drive, then turn off laptop, unplug power, then pull on drive outward, shold slid out of laptop,.
if replacing with new drive remove metal screw clip off the back of old dvd drive and screw onto new dvd drive, slide in and replace screw!

HOW TO GET TO THE RAM IN A45-S250

You will find the memory on the Toshiba A45-S250 under the keyboard. Snap of the grill that also has the on/off button on it, just above the keyboard. You will find two screws holding down the keyboard and another screw near the middle holding down a small silver piece that is holding down the center part of the keyboard. Lift the keyboard from the screen end toward you. Memory is located under a clear plastic flap. The power should be off and the battery removed during this operation. Be sure to touch some metal piece to ground yourself also. Good luck.
