I was having the same problem. This is how to fix it. Go to the actual printer, press the setup button, scroll and click on device settings, scroll down and select device user settings, select volume settings, then you can turn off all of the sounds of the printer. I also put it on quiet mode just in case. Hope that helps!
Check in the control software "Cannon my printer" , or the printer settings
If running Windows Operating System you should find the printer settings this way
Click the start button
Control Panel
Printers
Right click on the name of the printer
Then click properties
Under the maintenance tab, you will find a setting for "quiet mode". That should help.
I've attached a picture that shows the area I am referring to.
I set in on quiet mode and it still makes these loud beeping noises when I press the buttons. How do I make that stop?

tweety607-thanks for the info. I followed your directions and was able to put my printer into quiet mode; however, quiet mode had no effect on the turn-on or turn-off sound or volume.
Any ideas as to where the speaker is located? I could try physically blocking the sound there.
