If the horn cuts out after some usage ...then its probably the limiter lamp that is gone .... the limiter lamp is switched into circuit once the " polyswitch " gets hot .... so at first the horn works ...then when the limiter lamp is switched in ...nothing !
its just a standard 12volt car tail light lamp ...let me know if this helps

On my sp2x with 22xt high freq driver, actually rated bout 60 watts for the compression driver, crossover has to soak up / dissipate power over and above what is safe 4 comp driver, that said,I just blew both 15" woofers trying bi-amping,running 120wpc 8 ohm amp bout 3/4 power to horns-ok.500wpc 8 ohm to woofer, smelly burnt voice coils. That was an xpensive arvo.

Impulse 200p. Why is there no sound output from the horn?

There could be a broken wire connection or a burned out driver. Another possibility is failure in a filter circuit.

Is there a fuse in a peavey sp2 for horns

there are 2 of them in the new ones....but ya probably the blew diaphrams...unless they are old one...then it could still be in the crossover..need to know the exact SP2 model you have, as they have changed the speaker again and again over the years.

Peavey xt22 horn not working

Across the diaphram you should be reading about 8 ohms. it sounds to me like it's blown. However,if you think it'ds thre crossove, take it out and send it to Peavey. They do good , fastwork.............................................................

Peavey SP3 (older model) Can not get any sound thru horn.

They have a "soundgard" protection network that uses a polyfuse and an automotive lamp. Open the unit and check the circuitry. Both the polyfuse and he lamp may be blown. Do ohmmeter check of these, otherwise the horn is blown.

Peavey Horn Drivers (compression drivers)

Did you sort your problem? I need 2 also, but seems quite easy to get 4ohm but 8 ohm a little harder. The woofer in the cab is 4ohm, cabinet is rated 4ohm so wondering wether to replace th 8ohm horn with a 4ohm diaphram.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Peavey KB 300

Yes a horn can get blown. This should be 2 pieces, the horn itself and a circular driver on the rear. The driver itself will have what is called a diaphragm that can be removed and replaced. That is the part you want. Open up the speaker and get the part number off of the back of the horn and order the diaphragm from Peavey.

Hi, I need to replace the baskets on my peavey impulse 200 speakers. The baskets currently in them are 1268MR BW... (12 inch black widow) I am wondering if I can use differant baskets, due to the fact I'm...

Hi dieselbob25

Whats happening to the 1268? Oh and I couldnt find that model in the standard range available to the public at the peavey sites I checked here and Peavey

They may be a special edition for the Impulse boxes. Can you tell me what is happening to the speakers? Are they burning voice coils or what. May indicate another area of concern that is making them fail.
