When the freezer section gets cold and reaches its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge section does not cool. Its defrost problem. Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 24 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.

Electrolux ETE 4200 SB-R freeze fridge. freezer cold, but fridge wont cool. back of the unit sealed with only compressor (?) visible at bottom. Cant check fans, coils etc. Cheers Gary

That is not a good model number. Is it a top mount freezer or side by side? Generally in electrolux the freezer is what cooks the fridge, if fridge is not cooling, it could be several things causing it.
1. Damper not opening
2. Damper has ice build up
3. The return has ice build up
4. The freezer evap assembly is not defrosting to allow air flow.
5. The evap fan is not turning.

Can you tell me why please?

All the big cooling happens inside freezer compartment. Freezer gives little cool air to fridge compartment. Now when the vent blocks that little cold air cannot go into fridge compartment. Thus your freezer works good but not fridge compartment. Milk goes bad but frozen meet keeps good.....

Vent freeze up either due to defrost problemt, defrost drain line problem, Evaporator fan problem or even can be your damper motor not opening due to unit failure or frozen damper door.

Fridge warm, freezer has frost on back panel & is defrosting, fans work, just changed defrost thermostat, no air is moving from freezer side to fridge side, drain pan under fridge is dry

this fan needs to run when the compressor runs, check fan blade for being jammed by ice if you have this much ice on back wall as ice will stall motor,if no fan there will be no cool air to refrige compartment also the defrost drain tray will fill with water then freeze over which in turn floods the freezer floor and refrige compartments cause it cannot drain to the pan in the bottom

Rubbing noise on fridge side - ice build up behind lower panel

The rubbing noise comes from your build up of ice. If no auto-de-icer, then unplug your fridge or turn it off, allow it to thaw, remove all dripping water. restart or replug

I use a shop vac to remove water.

be sure NOT to break, or chip the ice, as you may break freezer components

Hello I have a GE Profile with Brita refrigerator bottom freezer and it suddenly stopped cooling in the refrigerator portion. The freezer works but very weakly. Ive unplugged it, let it go for one hour,...

The drain is frozen up. The fan what provides the cooling air for the fridge is stuck in the ice. Remove the vegie crisper and pop the bottom under the crisper s out. Also remove the Styrofoam plate. You will see the problem right in front of you. Use a hairdryer to get rid of the ice build up. Good luck

LG Bottom Freezer Frost Issue

It sounds like your defrost controller has gone bad. I have an LFC25760 and had ice build up in the bottom of the freezer such that water would start leaking onto the floor. The ice build up in the bottom of the freezer was due to a failing/bad defrost controller. Behind the back white wall in the freezer compartment exists the cooling fins along with a heating element underneath. Due to moisture that comes into the freezer from opening it, frost/ice builds up on the cooling fins. Thus the defrost controller turns on the heating element to melt the ice/frost off of the fins which then drips into a metal pan which channels the water to a drain hole which drops into the drip pan underneath the fridge next to the fan. The problem is that the defrost controller doesn't keep the heating element on long enough or the cooling cycle comes on too soon thereby freezing the water and plugging up the drain. I had my defrost controller replaced (just outside the warranty period!) and it worked for about 1-month and then same thing happened again. Instead of paying for another defrost controller that would probably not work 100% my serviceman used the old paper-clip trick. He took a paper clip, stretched it out and then wrapped one end around the heating element and placed the other end into the drain hole. Thus when the heating element comes on the paper clip keeps the drain hole warm/hot and prevents the water from freezing. It has been 9 months since this fix and I haven't had any ice pooling in bottom of the freezer.

Have a 2 year old SAMSUNG RS2545SH Side by Side

Control board has gone bad....

What happens is the defrost is controlled electronically from a circuit board, when this goes bad, the freezer quits defrosting, and freezes the fans that circulate air through the fridge side of things.

To check this, unplug the entire fridge, leave the freezer open, wait for it to defrost a bit, if this causes the fridge to start cooling again when you plug it back in, then its the defrost. You should also see ice crystals on the back of the freezer just under the icemaker.
