Alternative replacement knob for lg #LRG30357ST, originals are plastic and all broken

Found a simple fix. This works if the plastic stem is cracked but not broken. Slide a half-inch brass compression sleeve over the stem. It should be a slip or press fit. If the sleeve is too loose, one can squeeze the sleeve slightly to achieve a snug fit. A package of 5 or 6 sleeves are found in the plumbing section of a local hardware store. See the attached picture.

I own an LG range and I came up with a solution along with a friend that has a manufacturing machine shop. www.lgknob.com
Not a cheap solution, but a permanent one that is solid aluminum.

I called LG and the price of replacement knobs are almost as much as what I paid for the stove.

If LG won't replace with new type with metal reinforcement, a quick, cheap method is to go to Home Depot and buy a 1/2" diameter aluminum tube (comes in 3 ft length). The internal diameter of the tube is approximately .40" (or 10mm) and fits almost perfectly over the protruding plastic fitting on the knob which slides onto the "D" shaped rod on the stove (this plastic piece is the part that always cracks - poorly designed, does not take in the torque stress). Cut a 1/4" (0.25") piece off the aluminum tube (you may need to chamfer the edges of this small piece of tube to help it slide over the plastic - especially if you use a tube cutter) and then press the aluminum tube piece over the protruging plastic fitting on the knob (you might need to use a hammer to gently persuade it on - or press against a block of wood). The aluminum tube piece fits very snuggly - no need to use any glue - and will reinforce the plastic, even with cracks, to form a nice tight fitting on the gas regulator rod. Lots better than spending $50+ (up to $127) for EACH knob.

I just called the LG customer service dept. at the number above and they are sending me a replacement set of knobs. The CS rep. said the knobs had been upgraded. Hope so! I bought all three appliances, range, refrig. and dishwasher in 2009 and have already replaced the entire motor in the dishwasher. Thank goodness for an extended warranty! Thanks for the info J. SOURCE: all the knobs on my

this happens usually when the oven door is left open during broiling. The new knobs now have a metal reinforcement for this. depending on the age of the unit you can call LG Electronics (800)243-0000 and they will send you new ones.

Viking oven knob was hit off. Now I cannot put it back on

Need to check that the connection rod is white plastic, if it's black its a piece broken from original knob. Replacement knobs from Viking are $25-34. I used a Brainerd #64686 from Lowes (under $3) that works and looks just fine

All the knobs on my lg gas range need to be replaced. the plastic part in the middle of the knob jst did not last and the replacement for all five knobs is at least one third of the total cost of the...

I have a $1.50 per knob solution: 1. Buy a 1/2 x 5/8 x 1 spacer at Lowe's ($1.50 each - get 5 pieces) 2. Clean knobs, remove back cover of knob and connect broken plastic parts with glue (liquid form). Make sure little metal inside the plastic is on front end. 3. Apply glue (gel form) around plastic then slide the metal spacer over. Add more gel glue to fill up space between plastic and metal. Might want to wait 30minutes then apply more glue if there is still space or gap. That's it! I recommend waiting 24 hours to let glue cure until putting it back on range. Now you can put cap back on but would need to make the whole a little wider using a grinder.I used a small flathead screwdriver and a hammer and just chip off small pieces until metal sleeve would fit. However, I think u can do without the cap if you have strong glue. I have pictures. Feel free to contact me for questions: [email protected] My wife is very happy, saved her a lot of money coz new ones cost as much as buying a new range itself! The knobs are very sturdy right now. Wide says it's actually sturider than when we first got the range.1_25_2013_5_53_38_am.jpg1_25_2013_5_54_22_am.jpg1_25_2013_5_54_47_am.jpg

The knobs are broken. Plastic connector on the inside of the knob has cracked and the knobs will not stay on.

my friend had this problem and came to me. i have a lathe and made a part to keep these from cracking. his was already cracked and i repaired it. if it is completely broke off, your out of luck and will have to buy a new one ! i will repair at 25.00 each if not completely broken. if you buy new i recommend that i put this on before using as it will not give you this problem any more. i need to contact lg so maybe they will let me reinforce their knob before they sell it to you people! i can be contacted at : [email protected]. looking forward to solving this problem! 630-723-9486
