You may have accidently turned off the wifi, some note books have a switch on the side for this, others use a (blue writing) Fn + F2 or F5 key. yours may be different. check the blue icons on the F keys for one that looks like the wifi symbol.

Also check in the device manager that the wifi card is not disabled.

Try rebooting the router also.

post back your laptop make/modl for more specific advice if required.

Having problems connecting a lap top computer to the internet.

Connect the router directly via lan to your computer.
goto setup of the router: usuallly via the ip-adress of your router (see manual, usually: 192.168. ***.*)
Now look at the network security-settings .

Cannot connect my Mac Pro to the internet via my Belkin wireless

With the router powered on, use a small thin object to press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds. The router lights will flash and this will restore the router to factory default. Connect your computer to one of the routers lan ports with an etherent cable. Open your web browser and navigate to 192.168.2.1. This should show the router status page with the default settings.

This will make the router unsecured again, so be sure to go back into setup and reset your Wireless security. I suggest using WEP authentication, and using a 10 digit ph # for your key (that way its easy to remember).

Go to the Belkin support section at their website: http://www.belkin.com/support/

Look for your model router and download the "firmware" upgrade for it. Once you go install the up to date firmware try to give the router a reset. Hopefully doing all that will get the router working again and you connecting to the Internet.

When using the Belkin G router the network connection becomes lost and can not get on the internet. My computer has Vista on it and Belkin says that the router is compatible with the program.

This is possibly caused by your firewall or the wireless security (wpa/wep) on the router if you have set it up.
First of all, if you can connect to the internet via a cabled connection the problem is going to be with the way you've set the router up.
If you've setup wireless security on the router, have you also set it up for your wireless adaptor?.
I suggest you try to connect to the internet via cable to start with, if this works try to connect wirelessly with your firewall off.
If all else fails start from the beginning again.

Lost wireless connection WRT54G

I have had similar problems with my home wireless connections for years, across several different brands of routers. By far the quickest solution that I've found is to simply reboot the router; either using the command interface from a computer connected via ethernet; or by unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, and reconnecting the power.
