Dryer is making an awful squeek from the back, behind the drum?

there is a bearing at the back of the drum that gets dry and sometimes the ball part wears down causing the noise you are hearing i would check that first

There is a teflon bearing that holds the back of the drum you will need to replace. To get to it remove the top cover, take off the control panel, remove the front cover, take off the belt, then take the drum out, ususlly by lifting it up as you pull it foward. While have it all apart I would reccomend replacing the teflon glides at the front that the drum rides on.

Most likely the problem is the drum rollers are in need of lubrication.
Lube the drum rollers and this should solve your noise problem

there are bearings or a bearing behind the tub, need too make sure you unplug power cord first . then open the top and front so you can get a look at it. bearing is in the center back behind tub. this should get you started !!! sounds like a little grease will take care of it . good luck !!!!!!

you will need to replace the drum glides near the front of the drum,just behind the door,which will require you to remove the front panel to access the glide unit,there is a gold and a green glide,you will need to get the right one after disassembly

I normally don't work on gas dryers but it sounds like the drum rollers are in need of lubrication. Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. it sounds like a drum support roller is going bad or the belt idler pulley. i think maytag has a kick panel on the bottom that can be removed. look inside with a flashlight and you may be able to see something. if not, you may have to take the drum out to get a really good look. make a note and study how the drive belt serpentines around the motor, pulley, and drum so you can get it back together.

You will be looking at the front glides that the drum rides on, the glides are probably gone and the drum is rubbing on the plastic glide holder....if it is damaged will need to replace the front drum bearing/glide holder and all of the glides, usually about 4 of them.

If it is the drum front glides the noise will be from the front area, right behind the front panel at the top. If the noise is from the center rear of the dryer your drum bearing is gone, need to replace this also if you have to take this dryer apart..

Bit of a long shot, but I once had a machine with a crack at the root of one of the spokes on the big pulley wheel on the end of the drum - made a nasty noise once every turn as the belt tension came on and off that spoke. Good indicator of this would be if you can make the squeak happen when you turn the drum by hand, but this stops when you take the drive belt off. If the noise is still there with the belt off, try removing the hose that leads from the base of the drum to the pump and use the hole that leaves to try and find if anything (stray bra wire?) has got stuck between inner and fixed drums. Check for the same thing between the front edge of the drum and the back of the door seal. On some machines, you can also get a little access where the condenser plugs into the back of the drum. Finally, give the pulley wheel a good shoogle up/down, left/right and back & forth to check the bearings are OK (another long shot). A
