My Canon SX210 IS is brand new. Just bought it on yesterday. The problem I'm having is that the LCD screen does not look sharp and clear when focusing on a subject. It looks grainy. Can you tell me if I need to adjust the settings on the camera? I was indoors in low lighting, but I've never seen the LCD look this way on a camera. The LCD is always clear and sharp when focusing.

Some cameras display a grainy picture in low light. Do you have the camera set to the highest number of megapixels and fine image or do you have it set to a lower resolution to get more pictures on the card?

Go into the setup menu for the video card in your computer and tone down the sharpness control. Watch the monitor when you're doing that so you don't make it out of focus.
Is there a visible smudge on the front element of the lens? If so, you can use a LensPen or cleaning cloth from the photo department of your favorite store.
There is the possibility that there is fungus growing inside the lens elements of the camera. Humidity can allow this to happen over time with camera lenses as well.
If you have fungus inside the lens, you may need to check with a repair shop... buying a new camera may be in your future.

Michael, my suggestion is that both units be scrapped. The plasma panel is broken the Dell and not cost effective to repair. If the inverter bds are missing in the Sharp, they were most pulled because the Sharp has a bad LCD panel. Not cost effective to fix either unit.
