My Nikon S570 will recognize and download photos to iPhoto on my Mac, but not videos.
I also tried using a card reader but my Mac wouldn't recognize the card reader. I am using OS X 10.4.11
I can play back the video on my camera, but how do I get it into my computer?

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.
Simple fix. This camera saves all the videos as .mod files. But
they're actually MPEG2 encoded. If you rename them to something that
ends with .mpg, then Quicktime will recognize them.
The camera isn't actually designed to work with a Mac. From what I understand, you have to use a memory card reader to even transfer the files to a Mac.

Do what the pros do to avoid this very problem...use a card reader to download to a folder you create on the desktop. Once there, you can send the pics to iPhoto.
If your computer has a SD card reader, you might be better off putting your memory card into your computer and just copying the data.
Have you made sure your iPhoto is up to date? Perhaps a new update caused this problem.. Maybe you should try an older version of the software. Also, you might want to try other software. (I think you are on a mac?), you might want to try the software that came with the camera, if it works on your computer.
