SOURCE: GE microwave oven - f3 error

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

No, unfortunately the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part on this model.

You would have to order the control panel frame, which comes with a new keypad already installed.

The part number is WB07X10883 and you can get it for $86.82 here.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

SOURCE: The F3 code keeps coming on with a beeping sound

F3 means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

If it's under warranty, you should be able to get it fixed free.

The "C" in the model number means it's made for the Canadian market, and contacting GE Canada seems to be impossible for us here in the States.

So you'll need to contact GE via the info in your owner's manual.

If it's out of warranty, it's best to replace it, GE does not make parts available for JES-series microwaves.

One assumes they're meant to be thrown away when they fail out warranty.

Please don't kill the messenger... :)

The microwave is beeping at intervals and is flashing an F-3 Last night the vent was running full force and the beeping was going on too - I unplugged it but it didn't fix the problem

The error code of F3 on the GE microwave oven indicates a shorted keypanel/keypad.
Most likely the keypad will have to be replaced to fix your problem.

Spacemaker Microwave Oven

F3 means shorted key panel. You get prompted with F3 error if a short on key panel is detected for over 60 seconds.

Test key panel wiring and eventually replace key panel.

Enter the model number on one of two websites below to get parts and diagrams for your appliance:
