Windows XP should be able to automatically detect and install it. Try using it
on another computer that has either Windows XP, Vista , or Windows 7 on
it. If it doesn't automatically detect and install it on that one then
the flashdrive is dead.
You need to o this anyway so try this and see if you can see your files. your file names in the pen drive may be to long or have characters in them that fat32 cannot see.
Windows XP: Your computer needs to be NTFS to see the large hdd, and to use files larger than 4 gig. If you computer is Fat32, then it will not see a large external or internal drive when the files in a folder on that drive add up to more than 4gb. The drive needs to be NTFS because when you start adding files to it, eventually it will freeze.
Fat32 to NTFS ------------------- you can change the file system with out losing the data
To Check your hard drive, flash drive or external hard drive do this. They ALL need to be NTFS to handle today's large size file addressing..
Open my computer, right click the drive >properties. In the pop up it will say FAT or NTFS in the file system. If its FAT you need to change it to NTFS to handle large files and drive sizes.
Do it in this order: 1, Open my computer> right click the drive >properties >tools >check now >tick both boxes to clear the disk of any errors, then: 2. defrag the drive (tools) 3. Enter the convert command like this: say the usb drive is F: Click Start > Run > "convert F: /fs:ntfs /v /nosecurity /x" without the quotes.
same for your C drive. (paste above convert command and change the drive letter)
I have done this a lot and never lost any data. Just don't interfere or take risks. The biggest risk is a power failure while its doing it. It doesn't take long. If you find it doesn't do the conversion, then run Chkdisk to fix errors then try again.
You can read about it in XP help files. Click start >help and support >type format in the search - look in the overview.
Hi, Format your pen drive through computer management. It will solve your problem
1. Go to desk top and right click on your my computer icon. 2. You will get one option called Manage. 3. Click on that , it will open a console. 4. Then click on disk management . 5. you will see your hard disk partition and pendrive. 6. Right click on your pendrive and format it.
try to check your usb port, try another pen drive, maybe the pendrive is faulty, if not the pen drive is faulty, check your usb port. maybe your pendrive is 3.0 and your usb port is 2.0 only.
well you have have to be careful when buying this kind of large size(32gb) pen-drives because ther are many fake one which shows 32gb size when you connect to computer but it is not really because they use software to bypass the drive size , so be careful

Hey, the transcend pen drives usually have a small switch on the side of it, ie to turn the write protect on and off, usually a small lock symbol on it, the problem with unreadable files names etc, could be a corrupt partition, i would suggest formatting the drive as long as you aint got any important information on it,
