The ERR message can only be corrected by holding in the DISP/MENU and STOP buttons for two seconds, which results in ALL the material on the recorder being erased. vn-2100 does not have that capability...the vn-2100pc does... to download from vn-2100, you will need a compaticord to put in the ear on the recorder and the mic of the computer or device and transfer that way
