Heated seat not working

The most common cause of this is that the electric heating grid in the seat is defective. To repair this the seat must have the cover removed and a new grid installed, you will likely need to replace the control switch at the same time, also look under the seat and make sure no wiring is damaged on the seat support springs and shorted to ground. The de-trimming (removal of seat coverings) is best left to automotive trim shop as removing and installing a seat cover is a real pain if you don't have the correct tools and skills to remove the retaining clips that hold the cover to the frame, they are called "hog rings".

I purchased a 1983 Honda Nighthawk 750 need to know how to access the battery Forgive my ignorance, but I am new to motorcycles in general. Thanks

On your 1983 CB750SC you will have to remove your side covers. Be careful to put a fingers on both sides of the side cover tabs (a finger on either side of the side cover pin) when pulling off the side covers . They can break off easily on this model. Locate the two bolts holding the back of the seat down and take them off with a 12mm socket. Lift the back of the seat, pull it towards the back of the bike, and lift it off. The battery is underneath the driver seat and lifts straight up.

Motor bike seat repair

There really is no way of repairing the seat once it is torn. The only solution is to recover the foam underlay with a new seat cover. You should be able to purchase one from a dealership or off of the internet. As far as the installation goes: Take the seat off of the bike. Remove any seat brakets or anything you think will be in your way on the bottom side of the seat. Remove the old seat cover by pulling the staples out. If you are replacing the foam remove that too. Make sure the surface is clean before you start applying the adhesive for the new foam. I prefer spray adhesive. Its quick and I don't have to get it all over myself. Next, you will need some means of applying heat to the seat cover. A heat gun works the quickest but you can do damage with it if you aren't careful. Lay the cover down on a flat surface and make sure the seat is centered on the cover. You will want to use 1/4 inch staples or the like. Try to atleast match the staples you removed. Staple both ends of the cover to the seat, making sure its centered and tight. Now heat the middle of the cover and staple a mid point on either side of the seat. Start stapling from the mid point to the front on both sides. Alternate stretching and heat. You might have to remove some of your own staples to get the wrinkles out of the cover. Now do the same thing to the other end starting at the mid point. When you are satisfied, trim away any excess cover fabric that might interfear with seat hardware and fitment. Now reattach the seat and bask in the glory.

Take seat cover off

You need to remove the seat from the floor. Take out of the car and turn it upside down. Remove the hog rings holding the cover to the frame and remove the cover. Do your patch/repair and put the cover back on. Before you start, get a box of hog-rings and a pair of hog-ring pliers to crimp them with back in the same holes you removed them from. As for the head rest, there should be a button on the side to release it. Then just pull it straight up.
