Temperature Control not working on LG fridge

The temp control button on the fridge/freezer (2 door) are not working. There is nothing lit up on the fridge side and the freezer only has the 2nd and 3rd lights lit up

Refrig fan is noisey due to ice build up. Put a hairdryer on LOW Heat in the bottom freezer for about 15-20 minutes. This will defrost the ice on the fan and get it going again, but it is only a TEMPORARY FIX. Be careful that the hairdryer doesn't get too hot as it will bubble up the plastic on the bottom of the freezer. We have had one defrost control replaced already and are in need of a second one.

Also this problem happened after we lost power so I am not sure if it could be due to a power surge. Another response with the similar situation (except the 2nd and 3rd lights were on in that post) mentioned it was an error code and the thermal fuse in the freezer should be replaced. Perhaps my situation with the 4, 5, 6 number lights on requries the same fix?

It is an error code. The thermal fuse in the freezer section has gone. It has to be replaced. To get by in the short term, uplug the unit for 15 minutes, then plug it back in. It will run until it hits the defrost again (approx 5 hours) Part location is 401A and part number is 6615JB2005C. It is easy to change once you get the back cover off. Plug in part.

LG French door refrig 766-what should I set refrig temp &. Then the freezer—- I know it will change to internal— I just need to ser temps’

I would set the fridge in the middle, check it in a couple hours and see what the temperature is. I like my fridge too be at 36 degrees. Adjust the temperature control as needed to get the temperature to what you like. Do the same with the freezer, I like my freezer to be around 28 degrees. My big freezer I keep at about 10 degrees.

LG gn253sqa electro cool- temp. control lights in fridge keep flashing and fridge not cooling so good, help?

This has happened to me a couple of times. The problem is that when the fridge door is opened too may times the warm air of summer will block the cold outlets in the fridge with ice.The cold air comes direct from the freezer and the chamber connecting to the fridge clogs up with ice. What one has to do is completely empty the fridge and freezer, leave open both doors so the the ice build-up can melt. Then after about at least 4-5 hours (very important to stick by this time-frame as I tried a less time, but it did not work.),close both the freezer and fridge doors and switch it on.After about 1/2 hour replace your goods in the fridge. The down-side of this is that you will need the kindness of a neighbor or two to use their fridge to store your food whilst this fix is underway..

Temperature on fridge reads nothing and freezer temperature reading 5,6,7. Then the freezer coils freeze up and no air blowing to the fridge. Ready to take this POS outside and blow it up. Only 7 years old and never ending issues. I will never buy LG again. EVER! LNG - Life is not good! HELP.....so what needs replacing? Thermostat? And of course I have to have repair man come in due to LG not selling parts to customers. Again I call BS

LG refrigerator freezer temperature adjust does not work

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Temperature Control

call the number in your service manual. they'll ask you to sent the receipr, the silver sticker on the back of the fridge, and a piece of the outlet cord so they know it's not in use. they'll ship you a new fridge. WOW!

Side by side fridge freezer

Based on your weird display issues I'd lean toward the control board problem. At least that can be "one" of a couple problems...
