There is a lever or push button by the hinge (where the saw pivots).Just push down on the top of the saw and release latch.To lock back down , just push down on the saw and put lever back in the lock position.

there is a locking pin or lever located by the hinged part of the saw that releases the lock down position. Just put a little pressure down on the top of the handle to release.Do the opposite to lock it back down.
