I have a problem with my GPX ML648S mp3 player. I synchronized a song onto it and it worked fine. I then unplugged it. A few minuted leter, I plugged it back in at this point the computer said the "it says usb has malfunctioned". I unplugged the player once more to find that it is now stuck on the "charge" screen (despite not charing; the litle batter icon appears to be frozen as well) and will not shut off. The computer no longer recoginizes the device despite restarting the computer. I have hit the reset button on the back of the mp3 player and I have clicked all buttons on it in an effort to shut it off, but its still stuck on the charge screen. Please help me?

SOURCE: cant get it to charge

I tried to reset and it didn't work, They way I figured out was to shut it off then plug the USB in. Then the screen shows up where it is sleeping, Then hit the power button one time and in the bottom left the USB light came on and in the top right you can see your battery taking charge. Hope this helps, It took me about three weeks to figure out

SOURCE: I am not able to put videos on my GPX ML648S 2Gig

If your player is still functioning for music, than it doens't need to be formatted. the video file you are trying to transfer needs to be converted.
follow these instructions to ensure a working video file.
Video files must be .AMV formatted to work on this MP3 player. Below is a link to a converter. It’s FREE and will convert your entire file.

Once you have the video files formatted to .AMV

  1. plug your MP3 player into the computer
  2. go to MY COMPUTER
  3. find your .AMV video
  4. Drag file to Scroll Bar on the left, hold the file over the GPX DEVICE
  5. two folers will appear under it. Put file into ALBUMS

To then access videos put onto the device. Hold the MODE BUTTON on the side of your player until you return to the menu screen. Scroll to MOVIES and your videos will be there. To return to listening to music or looking at Pictures, hold the MODE BUTTON and simply select the according destination.

SOURCE: looking for drivers for gpx ml648s where do i find

I have not been able to locate drivers for this device either. All I can suggest is a manual reset. there is a small hole in the back of the mp3 player. Stick a pen into the hole and reset the device. This worked for me, but may not work for everyone. Sorry I can't be of more help.

My GPX ML648S 2 gigabite MP3 player won't shuffle.

I had this problem as well. The only real solution I've found is to open up MY COMPUTER and go into the device. From there you can transfer all the music into one folder.
There is a RANDOM setting on the player but it will only randomize the songs within the folder you are listening to.
To put the player on RANDOM play a song, and press the button on the side of the player, select PLAY MODE and choose RANDOM.
Hope this was helpful.

I bought an mp4 player branded GPX model ML648S and it just stopped letting me transfer music onto it with any microsoft. i need help, ive tried everything!

I suggest taking a small screwdriver or tip of a pen and holding down the RESET button on the back of the device. This should return the device to it's factory settings. Like getting a brand new MP3 player. Also make sure your memory is not full. You can delete files my opening up My Computer, then GPX device, then Portable Memory, Then Music and then delete songs you no longer wish to hear.

Dont know how to put movie/pictures on gpx ml648b

Plug in your MP3 Player. Open MY COMPUTER, your MP3 player will show up in the scroll on the left side of the screen. Go into your documents to select an image and simply drag and drop on top of the folder called ALBUMS under the GPX. This will put images into an album on the player.

To See the images once on your MP3 player,
1. Turn on the MP3
2. Hold MODE BUTTON
3. press up or down until you select PICTURE
Your images will appear as a list.

I find that .gif images and .jpg images work the best.

Something is wrong with my mp3 player's memory

You will need to format your player.
• Connect your player to your computer suing your USB cable and in the Start menu, select My Computer.
• In the My Computer folder, right-click on the icon representing your GPX player. You will be given a list of options. One of them will be to Format your drive. Click on this to erase everything on your GPX player.
• A warning will pop up to make certain that this is the choice that you want to select.
• Once your player is formatted, reload your music files onto your GPX player.

• Open Windows Media Player. In version 10, open the Sync tab.
• On the right-hand side, there will be a listing for GPX audio player. Just above this and to the right are a set of four icons. The icon furthest to the right represents, “Format storage media.” This icon resembles a pencil.
• After formatting, synchronize music to the player. In version 11, open the Sync tab. On the far left column, there should be a listing for GPX Audio Player.
• Right-clicking on this listing will result in a menu containing Format. Select this to erase everything on your mp3 player.
