RCA F32450 32" TV Logo
Posted on May 31, 2008

Rca F32450 The problem that I am having is that as soon as I turn the t.v. on, the t.v. automatic changes channels after channels nonstop. I tried unplugging the t.v. and also taking the batteries out of the remote to make sure a button wasn't stuck or something. Do you have any suggestions?

The tact switches behind the front panel buttons will leak when they get old causing them to activate by themselves. You can take out the circuit board that the switches are mounted to by spreading open the plastic clips that hold it in. Get a soldering iron and solder ****** and remove the offending switches. Then replace the board. The buttons will no longer work but the TV will work fine with the remote. I had the same problem with the channel up switch and the volume down switch and just removed those switches. My TV works fine now.

update: I found replacement tactile switches at Newark, part no.
PTS645TL50. I replaced all six switches on the board and my TV works
great now. I opened up one of the bad switches and noticed some
deposits between the contacts from the copper plated actuator. This was
probably causing a leakage of charge between the ground side and the
high side which would activate the switch. If the set is plugged in
then one side of the switch is always at high potential even when the
    TV is off.

I had the same problem, took out circuit board and wiped it thoroughly with 91% rubbing alcohol, pressed the buttons a few times to make sure they werent stuck, and now its working. Its only been one day so not sure if its a long term solution.

Hello... I have the same problem and you can get around it fairly easily. I am currently searching for the replacement part that "I think is needed" which should be a very inexpensive part, but I'm having trouble locating it.

Power your TV off, it can be left in "STAND-BY"

Take a FLAT TIP screw driver

The black cover, where your power button is, the channel button, volume button and REMOTE RECEIVER are located

Put the screw driver between the black cover and the silver cover of the TV.

Gently pry the black cover lose, it will pop out fairly easily. You may have to do it a little on the right side and then the left side.

Once you have the cover off, you will not be able to remove it completely just yet.

Raise the black cover gently, look up at the circuitboard, there are two black retainer clips.

Gently spread one slightly open, pull gently on the circuitboard.

Now do the other side also.

Once the circuitboard is detached, you can sit it down, it will still have a ribbon cable attached to it.

Now you can pull the black cover towards you, releasing it completely from the TV. The buttons will fall out, but don't worry, it's one piece and easily reassembled.

Now, here is the deal with my TV. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the circuitboard, plug it back in, power on the TV with the remote.... it will USUALLY work well until powered back off. Then you have to remove the ribbon cable again before you power it back on.

This worked for about 5 days, then it stopped working and the channels continued to "roll" going thru all the programmed channels fairly quickly again.

If you MUST watch the TV, you can use the channel up and down buttons to get to your channel of choice and quickly disconnect the ribbon cable while on that specific channel. You have to be quick! If not, it will switch channels on you before you disconnect.

I pulled my circuitboard and it has the following markings on it:

BOARD itself has: 1547266C printed all over the edges on both sides.

There is a label on the board with the following numbers and letters:

XX15568-730
RWB55302444
CONF "B K 0"

Since you can disconnect the board while on a channel and it stays on the channel, I'd have to guess that the board is bad. If it was something inside the TV, I would think that even after disconnecting the board that the TV would continue to go through the channels. So, it's most likely this circuitboard causing the problem.

I just cannot locate the part as of yet.

One last note... it's funny that your TV and mine started on the same date or really close to the same date.

Thanks!

Shane

RCA 2001 P61927

Okay there is something wroung with the frount panel there may be debris in where the button is depressed or seomthing is depressing the button or it may be just going out on you.

1. take off the frount cover and examine the channel up and down make sure its clean and there are no debris.
2. if that does not work replace the controller board aroun $65 bucks.

I do not know your zip code but you can give these folks a shot www.teexp.com you can call and ask how much it would cost to replace this controller even though they might not work in your area they still can give you a price.

Thanks

Tv switching back and forth from three seperate channels, cant get it to stop on any!

The only thing I know of that can do what you are seeing is if something has spilled into the set and has contaminated the pushbuttons under the volume/channel buttons. If the Channel Up pushbutton has fluid in and around it then it can conduct and the microprocessor thinks you are telling it to go up through the channels. The only way to fix that would be to disassemble the set and pull out the PC board which has the pushbuttons on it and clean or replace them. If you do not have experience working inside TV's then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.

Eliminate all other gear connected to the set and try it. If the problem goes away, you have a bad source piece of equipment. Like a VCR,DVD,etc....accordianman
