I have a guide plus gold gemstar tv and I cant program my direct tv remote or Innovage jumbo remote to operate the tv, can anyone help?

Check for any struck press buttons at the control panel of the TV. This is a common fault that, these switches to get struck, preventing any more functions to do with them. There is no repair to these micro-switches, except replacing them. You have to open your TV to access this control panel printed circuit board, de solder out these damaged switches, and to solder new ones in place. It will be best to replace them all at one time. I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. This is a common problems on these sets.The symptoms you mentioned highly suggests an issue with power supply board.If you have electronics repair experience and wanted to repair it, revert and i would be glad to add few more inputs to the diagnosis unless investment in new TV is the best option.

For about $250, you can buy a new 26" LCD TV.
It would cost about $200 for a repair.
I think it might be better to buy a new TV. If you do, buy the extended warranty, they don't make them like they used to.

Line Output Transformer of your RCA tv has damaged. Never switch on the TV until this fault has retified. The transfrmer said above is called as {LOT} for short, and should be replaced with same type and number. Along with, its horizontal output transistor also shold be replaced. OK.

I hope that you have gotten this resolved. But in case you haven't or have some questions, here are some quick and simple steps to go through. Try unplugging the receiver from the power source for about 10 seconds. If your receiver is plugged into a surge protector, try plugging it straight into the wall if possible; or if already plugged into the wall, try to move the receiver to another outlet. The receiver at times will not get the full amount of power that it needs, and it will not stay powered on. If none of these work, you may need a new receiver. There is some short circuit in the horizontal output section inside your RCA tv. The blinking of ztandbylight twice denotes it. it may be due to a short in the horizontal output transistor, or defective LOT [Line Output Transformer]. Remove the horizontal aoutput transistor, by resoldering it out. It can be located very near to the above said LOT, screwed on to a metal heatsink. It is a three terminal device usually black in colour. After resoldering it out, switch on your TV, and see whether the standby LED blinks or not. If not, replace it with a new one, and switch the TV for a short time, say 3 seconds or so, and switch it off, unplug it from mains supply, and feel the heat of the transistor replaced. If it overheats, LOT said above is defective, and should be replaced with same type and number. OK.

You have a high voltage problem that is loading the set down, the power supply is starting up and trying to start the set but can't because high voltage has one or more defective parts, needs technician.
