How to set up a sony suround sound to a tv!!!! without the manual

Definitely there would be setting, find it out from user manual or contact the customer care

That is because the TV is set up without suround sound processing but the movies have surround sound.
Not a fault at all.

common fault make sure the red and white are in the correct plugs as most units have 5.1 suround there are 3 sets of sound outputs use LF & RF

do you wan the suround sound to play sound for what the tv is displaying or just the ps3

for just ps3

connect hdmi to ps3 and tv
connect optical to ps3 and suround sound
change video settings to hdmi
change sound settings to optical
it asks to set settings automatically you have tyo doo it manually

if you want to play every thing that tv displays then
connect ps3 to tv with hdmi
connect suround sound with hdmi to tv
(this might not work)
if it dont work then

connect ps3 to tv with hdmi
and your tv should have sound out or something along those lines it should be two phono plugs in the back of the tv connect that to the suround sound

by any chance do you have the set in suround sound if you do change it back to stereo.. and try that most of todays set have poor sound and tiny speakers. because so many people connect there set to a theater system

sounds like you have it set in the suround sound setting set it back to stereo and it will be al better

You will need a DVD player with an optical output, as the sky engineer said. A Co-axial S/PDIF output could also work if your surround sound has that input, however not all units transmit surround encoded sound through the Co-Axial output. Only option really is to upgrade if that doesn't work

First you have to activate the HDMI audio option in your Sony suround system options so as to activate it. Please try this and then tell me what happens.

Look at the TV specification - does it include a surround sound receiver and amplifiers? The tuner may not be 5:1 capable - thus there is no surround on off air broadcasts. If there is then you may need to select the correct menu and turn it on - THIS WILL INVOLVE READING THE MANUAL OR USER GUIDES.

That sometimes happens to me. I just push the cable closest to the right of the PS2 in hard and you will get sound
