What make is your HD Box and TV? Assume you are connecting direct to your TV using HDMI, and not though an amp? If you do have an amp, you'll need an optical from HD box to amp to get DD 5.1, and connect your HD box to TV with the HDMI. Have you disconnected any scart connections from the HD box to TV - no longer required unless you really want to watch SD over the scart? Check that the Audio Output in the Sound settings for you HD box is set to Stereo.
Does your TV have individual audio and picture settings for the input source - perhaps you need to tweak these for the HDMI input being used. Do you have another HDMI cable you can use to eliminate a possible dud?

Did you ever find the problem here and get your system working with the PS3? I have exactly the same problem. If you did get it working, please could you let me know how you did it. Its driving me crazy trying to get it setup.

What are the cables you tried to connect on your PS3 going to the Sony HT-DDWG700?
- Make sure you use the Digital (Optical - Output) cable from PS3 going to your Sony (Optical - Input) to have a Surround Sound (Dolby Digital)
- Using the AV Multi out cable from the PS3 will not produce a digital sound. (Analog only) sometimes 1 or 2 speakers will only work. (Left and Right)

do you wan the suround sound to play sound for what the tv is displaying or just the ps3

for just ps3

connect hdmi to ps3 and tv
connect optical to ps3 and suround sound
change video settings to hdmi
change sound settings to optical

connect suround sound with hdmi to tv

and your tv should have sound out or something along those lines it should be two phono plugs in the back of the tv connect that to the suround sound

There is not reason this would click and not turn on. If it just clicked, it would likely be caused by interference from another appliance, typically a fridge or freezer. The most likely reason is a relay in the internal power supply. The record deck is known as a PS-LK47P. If you wish, another deck will work as long as it has a magnetic cartridge and no preamp built in. A Technics SL-1200 is the sort that is fine and a definate upgrade.

It's likely that the sub channels are just switched off. Go to the speaker settings or set up and check that the sub channels are switched to on.

your question depends on how good you are at electronic diagnosis (symptom diagnosis) and how adept you are at removing and installing electronc components. first you have to determine why the amplifier has stopped working on the left channel. Make sure that the problem isn't a simple one, take the speakers off the right side and hook them to the left side and see if you get sound. If you do,, then the problem is the left speaker or left speaker wire. If you don't get sound then tyr taking the input that feeds the right channel and pluggin it into the left channel and listen for sound, if you get sound now the problem was the signal from your source not being sent down the left side.
If it still doesn't work you need to move inside the amplfier, but first, get close to the back of the amp and give a sniff, do you smell anything (a pungent burnt wire or rubber smell) if you do, the the chances are good that some components have burned out. Do you recall having a shorted speaker wire on the left side? shorted speaker wires are notorious (especailly older equipment) for burning out the final amplifer stage. If this was an expensive amp it might be worth fixing, if its not worth much then maybe you should consider religating it to use as a monophonic amplifier (one channel) you could use it to power a sub woofer in a hibryd stereo or surround sound system.
