Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
This usually happens, if there is excess choking from ice in the evaporator coils...The excess frosted ice in the chamber extends to the evaporator fan, thus trying to choke/stop the fan... Whenever the fan gets start pulse from the controls, it hurdles the movement and the noise comes. Remove the blockage to the fan (if any), else you need to change the fan motor bearings...

Whirpool wgi fridge freezer, fridge not cooling?

Most frideges get all their cooling from the freezer. There will be a fan and duct in the back of the freezer that pushes cold air down into the fridge. If the duct is blocked with ice or the fan motor has quit. Your freezer will work fine but the fridge will barely cool at all. Check that the fan runs when the compressor is running, ( turn both temp knobs to the highest cooling and leave door open until comp. comes on). If the fan runs your duct is plugged. If not you need a new " Freezer Fan Motor". Most are simple to replace and cost around $100.00.

Kenmore side by side fridge. Green temp light flashing for fridge side, freezer side working fine. Fridge side not cooling.

possibly frosted up at the air door between the fridge and freezer, or the fan in the freezer is not pushing cold air into the fridge side, if you can not hear a fan running in the freezer when the fridge is running (compressor on) then change out the fan

The freezer is working fine but the fridge is not cooling. The motor is running constantly. I did accidently leave the fridge door ajar for a few hours

Check to see if the cold air supply from the freezer to the fridge section is blocked and that the fan is running. The fridge uses cold air from the freezer to cool and many times the intake is blocked by something in the freezer compartment.

My frige is not cold, just cool, turn the T stat to coldest & no good. The freezer seems fine & I looked in the back & the fan is running. It doesn't seem to be blowing cold air or...

Two thoughts. If the fan is running... and you can here it in the freezer when it is on. Then the fan is fine and it is the mixer control. IF the fan is not working, then fix the fan.

The mixer control is in the top of the fridge where the air comes out on the wall between the fridge and freezer.

I think maytag calls this a cold control / damper.

Basically it controls the air flow rate between the fridge and freezer. When it is opens it allows air from the freezer into the fridge and cools it off.

Hope this helps.

Maytag MFD2561HES Reefer not cooling

hello frooska,

kindly look at the back panel of the freezer section. if you can hear the humming sound, find out where it is coming from. if the sound is coming from the compressor, that means the evaporator fan is not running.

but, take note that u need to press the door switch of the freezer in order to check the fan. the fan stops every time the door is open. if the fan is not running, you have to remove the middle panel, above the evaporator, the fan would be there. ( in the freezer section)

but if the fan is running and the back panel of the freezer is full of frost, then that would be a defrost issue.

defrost heater, bi-metal or defrost controller.

Tnx 4 uisng Fixya,

I have a samsung fridge freezer which is about 4 years old. The freezer is working fine but the fridge has gone off completely.

sounds like your evaporator fan ( in the freezer) has quir, or you have a defrosr issue, first, verify the fan is running in the freezer, if so you need to check the three defrost components. the defrost timer, the defrost heater, and the defrost thermostat,

Refrigerator stopped working, freezer works fine

Sounds like the evap fan is not running. The fan takes cold air from the freezer to cool the refer compartment. If the freezer is cold the compressor is running. Generally the freezer will stay cold since the cooling coils are there but it must have the fan working to get the air up to the refer area. Pull everything out the freezer and take the back panel off to view the coils and fan, etc. It's a simple easy job to change the fan. If you find the coils are a total block of ice then it's another problem... the defrost cycle isn't working. Sooo... see if the fan is running in the freezer compartment first. See http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/AA43-57.gif for fan location, item 18 is the fan motor. Let us know what you find out.

Freezer works, fan works, fridge side not getting cold

Whip, make sure the condensor fan is running in back. It should be running anytime the compressor is running. Check to see if you have a buildup of frost on the back of the freezer panel, this could indicate a defrost issue. This refer is controlled by one main mother board in back. Check these things first and post back. You may have to do some tests on the board...Catriver..post back.
