PXE-2.1 means that your computer is booting via LAN. Just change the booting sequence to HDD.

SOURCE: my laptop seems to have crashed.

From your post it looks like some how you lost your boot sector, file. The computer is looking for a cable to load from network since it can't find a bootable file/partition.If it can't load OS it won't be able to start. You can try to restart and use one of the F Keys,F8 Key , F12, F10 or Delete key to see if any repairs/restores are built in.When you get home you'll have more options with an external drive.Sorry I couldn't be of more immediate help.Good Luck.

You get this kind of message when the laptop could not identify that there is a hard disk drive installed inside the laptop. Check your hard drive & make sure it is not dead.

This is what mine says when I turn on Intel UNDI, PXE-2 . 1 (BUILD 082) Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v1.0.0.5(01/22/09) Check cable connection..

You hard drive is missing from the system. Just does not recognize it.
Remove the hard drive and reseat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key. Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

Acer aspire 5517 as no bootable device

Go to the bios setup and see if there are any HDD installed. If no remove HDD from laptop then put it back, restart then go bios setup again and see if it is installed. If still not, you might need to replace your HDD with a new one.

Your laptop can't find an operating system, check the operating system as it installed properly. If its is then you need to check the hard disk drive of your laptop because it is missing from the motherboard.

When I turn on my laptop it goes to a black screen that tells me... Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 083) Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller...

based the message that you encounter, it may pertain to boot priority or to BIOS configuration.

My recommendation is for you to access and reset the BIOS settings on your computer.

Wile I am trying to boot it up it goes in to a loop

Hello.

That error message usually refers to a hard disk failure. Your hard disk cable could be loose or faulty. Or, your hard drive would need to be replaced.

I'd suggest to check the cable and run your system's hardware diagnostics (often F2 or F12) when your system boots.

Hope this helps.
