I just bought a Fosmon usb 3.0 to gigabit ethernet adaptor, can i download the required driver online. I don't have a way to load the contents of the CD that came in with it.

If the computer sees the ethernet card and allows a connection then yes. Otherwise you'll have to use another computer to access their website to download to a thumb drive so you can transfer the file to your computer. CD drives are cheap. Maybe you need it get one.

I have no internet on dell latitude e 6400 laptop how do I download drivers for it and get wifi going

What OS? Use a Ethernet cable, Have you tried here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/latitude-e6400 OR try windows updates using a Ethernet cable. OR use another computer and a USB drive go to dell website, download drivers to USB drive, transfer to laptop, install drivers.

I want to retrieve data from a Powerbook 3400c via ethernet. I have a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and an iMac running OS10.4

I think the 3400c has a Firewire port, which would allow it to startup in "target disk mode" where it would be just like an external hard drive. That is, hold T at startup to get TDM. I have a Pismo with Firewire but I think the color 3400 is older.
With MacBooks and OS10.5 or later (you are at 10.6) you can do this with USB, also. So it might use the MacBook as the external drive of the PowerBook to transfer files in Finder.
Otherwise, you can turn on AppleShare on both and use Ethernet to transfer files slower.

How do I save my transfer info on to my new pc?

Not knowing what operating system you are running or what size memory you are transferring. I would choose to get an external hard drive, or memory stick with enough memory to hold all your data. plug that into a usb port. find it in my computer>C:drive, then go to files you want to copy, and copy>click back to usb drive with external memory>paste.

Good Luck. Just be patient, and do not remove youe external HD without the safe removal tool.

The other way is to network your computers through a hub wwith ethernet cables, but this takes some setup using windows transfer wizard.

I unistalled the ethernet driver from my sons computer

If the ethernet port is on the motherboard (if it is near the keyboard and mouse plugin) you should find the make and model of the motherboard, go to the manufacturer's website on another computer and look for "Driver Downloads".

If the ethernet port is on a card that plugs into your motherboard (if it is down towards the bottom of the computer in a slot area) you should find out the manufacturer and model number of the card and proceed to their website from another computer.

Once you've downloaded the appropriate driver, you can use your flash drive to transfer it over to the computer in need.

It's a usb drive no drivers are needed. It may be blown if it's not showing up when you plug it in. When you transferred the data, was it plugged into the usb port and showing up as the drive that was receiving the data. I would check the machine that you used to transfer the data from it may have transfered it to a different drive, as this portable would have had to have been selected in the computer receiving the download or it would have gone to the C drive by default, and may be sitting on that computers drive.
