Hi, the electric clutch pulley broke on my craftsman riding lawn mower (part # 140023). I called sears and was told I couldn't just buy the pulley alone. electric clutch is priced at $200 plus. Is it possible for me to just get a new pulley to install on the electric clutch assembly? If so, where? Thanks

check to make sure your cable is in tact its called a pto clutch cable about 20 buck on ebay it may be broke inside

if you can't find the part on sears web site sears parts see if you can find a local welder

jammed cable from rust or broken strands

I own a Craftsman rider, DTY 4000, 25 HP Kohler, 48" cut, 137 Hrs. It eats a belt about every mowing or two. Did all the stuff you did. Good luck from Sears. Had cousin who is owns a lawn & garden repair business look at it today. Says the prob. is this - The drive belt pulley (elec clutch) has too a narrow "V" and the angle of wear between it and the deck when the deck is in the lowered (mowing) position is too severe. If you notice with the deck in the fully raised position the pulleys line up perfectly. Then drop your deck and see how tightly bent the belt is downward and it makes sense as to why(my) belt would first roll over then break in a few minutes. The elec clutch pulley is sold as one unit PT No. 179334 $250.00, but I'm sure it would come with the same narrow V pulley. Waiting for word from my cousin. My last Sears Mower. Cannot even sell it in good faith.

If you don't have the broken belt, and you don't want to buy 2 or 3 wrong belts. Go to a lawn and garden supply company or sears and buy it by model number of the mower. Then when you have the new one, find the numbers on the belt, and write them down. http://www.searspartsdirect.com or

dont understand your question ... get the belt ... it was designed to fit ... there are probably at least three pulleys. put the belt around the motor pulley and the trans pulley then figure out how the clutch or tensioner pulley interact with it.

There are many springs on a riding mower. Is it the clutch spring, the idler pulley spring, or maybe the blade brake springs. There are also springs on the brakes and even under the set. Please be more specific.

Check the drive belt that runs back to the transaxle,it sounds like it broke.If the belt is in the pulley check to see if the transaxle pulley is turning when the clutch is out.Also make sure both wheel axle keys are in the rear wheels.If all this checks out the transaxle may have broke,look underneath to see if it is broken there.

Is the belt on the pulleys ? If so your cable is broke its what engages deck belt
