trust me, the fault is from the win xp SP2. I am saying this with confidence and out of experience. Except if the audio drivers you downloaded is for win vista.
While running the Win xp, some files make have skipped/not installed which is making the sound not to work. Or maybe you have initially installed a wrong audio driver.
To solve this problem. you have to re-run the win xp, if possible, use another xp Cd, maybe not Sp2.
After installation, let the audio driver be the fist thing you install.
Try to update your drivers from your laptop vendor website. You can use also some drivers updating software like this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?miendd4mj4f - Driver Genius Professional 9.0.0.180.rar
Its true. the Bios or HDD driver wont allow you to install Win XP on it.. This BIOS is compatible with only Win Vista. The only easy way to do it is by creating 2 partitions while installing vista. once vista is installed- install XP with Dual boot and than format the vista partition.

you will need to go to the manufactures website and then into their support link, then driver downloads, you will need to select your model laptop. once you are at the correct driver downlaod area, download the drivers you need. BPCS
